Ok this is probably a dumb question, i bought a wideband guage and sensor, do I need to add the extra o2 bung (so 3 o2 sensors total, 2 factory narrow bands and one wideband)? or can the wideband replace an o2 sensor? leaving me with the wideband before the cat and a narrow behind the cat.

No. You MUST leave the pre-cat factory narrow band sensor in place. That is the one the PCM uses for making fuel trim adjustments. You can get rid of the post-cat O2 sensor, but you have to have the codes turned off in the PCM, and you don't want to put the wideband sensor back there because it won't read accurately after the cat.
Best bet is to just have a third O2 bung welded in before the cat. That is how most people do it, and is the easiest really. Just make sure they weld it in the pipe at an angle above horizontal so that the sensor is pointing down at least a little bit. You never want them pointing up because water condensation in the exhaust will gather there and ruin the sensor element. ;)
