Hey guys, sorry about the previous post. i didn't know we couldn't ask racing questions. Anyways, would an SE 4 banger run w/ a Grand am GT? Also, how can you tell if an SE has the V6?

The only exterior way to tell if it has the V6 is the v6 badge on the front fenders. Im guessing that it was a V6, becuase that would be a very close call, as for the 4banger, spyhunter would know if it could keep up:D

I have the Alero 4 banger (5 speed), and at MIlan I raced Tony, and was about his front quarter/tire at the traps.

How come the 4 bangers keep up with the 6's? I don't get that. I might as well of gotten a 4 banger than and save the gas money/insurance!

he had a 5 speed manual so that accounts for the closer time.
4 banger/manual =closer to v6 auto
4 banger/auto = not even close to v6 auto

If you ever did a tune up on a 2.4 you'll love the V6. The Quad 4 is a wonderful engine, but the coil pack/distributor cap/plug boot setup is strange and has caused more than a few headaches. Anyone ever forget to replace those tiny springs on the plug boots?
PS- V6 has more torque, so it can tow better and gives a "push you back in the seat" kinda feel.

I would have to agree with qwik99 on the headache part of the quads, but both of my GT's (92 and 98) have Quads and they give just as much push you back feeling as my brothers '00 GT. If you want a second opinion ask ohpspe in the midwest forum he's ridden with me at an Autocross event in my 92.
