I dont think they will. The edge off my LIM in the rear side is broken off. (where the bolt goes) which sucks big time!. Next summer i was planning on swapping a 3500 in, and getting ported LIM. Now i have to buy a new LIM, would it fit on my 3400 heads? =( i have some loan money coming in just enough to buy the ported and polished LIM and UIM

Only the 3500 UIM is swapable as far as I can tell.

Is there anyway i could put a bunch of jb weld on the edge let it dry over night, finish putting the helicoil in and put it all back together? heres a pic

Theres sort of a glare but the piece that broke off fits perfectly on the LIM

I know nothing about brazing but maybe the outside edge can be brazed or welded. I saw a youtube vid of someone welding with an aluminum rod and oxy acetylene. It maybe to small though.

If the JB weld had something to really grip it may work. It could be worth a try if you have it laying around cause it's broke anyway and I'm not thinking it will make it worse.

Well if worst comes to worst this dude has one for $45 shipped on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-04-3-4-3400-3-1-3100-Lower-Intake-Manifold-NICE-/150469281729?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2308ab07c1#ht_500wt_956

Just gobbed both sides with jb weld, took 2 clamps and have them clamping it down. Its the last thing i can do before buying new ones =( tomorrow ill give it a go. If not ill probably be buying 3400 ported and polished LIM and UIM from Milzy. As much as i want to get them im sooo broke! i owe my parents $700 fro the headers and all the gaskets when i took heads off. So i really dont want to add to that.

But if worse comes to worse and i do need a new LIM my dad said we will get the ported ones since i planned on doing it anyways. But i hope this jb weld holds up until Christmas (was going to get ported manis)

I can't look at mine right away but would it be possible to drill it all the way through and use a nut and bolt.

My thinking with the JB weld was to drill 2 shallow holes not all the way through on both sides of the break which would give the JB weld small pockets to grab on to.

Possibly, gonna let it sit overnight right now and check it out tomorrow, hopefully this works if not i guess ill buy ported manis

I may have a 3400 LIM still out there in Denver. I loaned it to somebody to do a mock-up, but I didn't take it when I left town. If you need it, I'll call the guy and see if he still has it.

I would just use a bolt & nut there with a washer on the bottom side. The UIM gasket provides the seal, so all you need is something to hold the UIM down.

I had to do that on mine too when the threads stripped. Make sure you don't over tighten it otherwise you risk breaking off what little material you have left.

Yes, and if I remember right, in very good shape. It should still be at Hanksville Hot Rods, off Sante Fe Drive about a mile south of 470. I was meaning to check up on that anyway lol

I still have my Comp ported 3400 LIM from before I did the 3500 top-swap and had to get the 3500 LIM. Just sayin...
And with the JB weld. IMO let it dry 24 hours minimum to let it fully harden. I tend to jump the gun when it comes to being patient. The outside may be rock hard, but the inside is still curing...

Jb weld might work... I've used it to repair a crack once on my UIM... but with the entire piece broken off like that I'm not sure. Might need to use a lot of JB weld to make it strong enough. Just make sure not to over tighten the bolt.

And no, the 3500 LIM will not fit 3400 heads. The ports don't line up. You can only use 3400 LIM with 3400 heads, or 3500 LIM with 3500 heads. Either UIM with fit either LIM though because the ports are in the same position.
