I have a 99 gagt with iridium plugs bosh wires, jet module , and in about 2 days my interceptor will be here. I have smoothed my lower half of my air box and put a k&n drop in. every body says I need a cai I don't think that would make much differance becuas even though you have less restriction, you are now sucking hot air so my question Is can you feel it in the seat of your pants, or does it just sound better. also Im thinking of cross breading the idea, by boxing in the biggest area possible where the air box is now, and sealing it to the hood, then cut the bulge out of an eclips hood and graft it to a gt hood over the box, and cut a scoop out of the bulg to feed the air. I know you all say what about rain well cut a hole in the inner fender. and make a blocker plate that is transferable from that hole to the scoop hole..just a brain fart. but it would be original. but rellly I just need a strait reply on the ???? ps i have serched tell my brain melted I still need conformation from experiance....:) :D

While Tony's car on the same night was 60 degrees with a cone sitting on the MAF.. granted that went down to about 40ish when moving, still warm compared to outside.

If i do the scoop thing It will be with a salvage hood I wan't to keep mine for a spare. and I still wan't to no can you feel it in the seat of your pants. this is why. I i put that loud @%$#@ on ther then I am gona have to take an a$$ eating from my wife I have already took one for putting a cone on my truck. the 4 poper did not gain enough to notice. and I guess I made the lashing worse when I told her the loud noise was a bad muffler and ordered a summit hi flow muffler for it (((EVEN LOUDER))) woops!!

Modding or Marriage? That is the question, we know the answer!
:D... I don't think the cone is all that loud... the CAI is not too much and the wife likely will not hear it behind the wheel. If anything it will give a bit of a whistle. When the car is idling though it will have a distinct SSSSSssssuuuuuuussssh sound.
But it tends to fade as the car warms up and idles normally.
You will notice a slight seat'o'the pants dyno gain, say 5-8HP. It will also increase MPG noticeably if you score that. They say every 10 degrees cooler an intake charge is you get 1 hp. So Seth's at 50 degrees cooler than Tony's, and the larger flow potential in the wheelwell (more air reaches it) seems to reassure the ass-dyno results.;)
Aleroboy dynoed the CAI w/TB, intake, and catback to give 8HP.
Synopsis - Go for it.

i personally have tried all the intake setups (except the functional hood thing) and i would have to say going from the drop in to cai, even cone on maf to cai, you definatley noticed a "set of the pants" gain! even my g/f who knows nothing about the car noticed (maybe not hte best in your case)!! but i would definatley say go civic cai!! one of my fav mods!!

A drop in will not do too much..
A CAI will make the engine sound a little more meaner!! And give you top end a kick

I had some hefty cutting with a jig saw to put one in the inner fender on my truck. what do you all use to cut it and every one says civic cai is that a brand name or off of a honda civic that is easy to get like the ones at auto zone I would relly like to see a pic of one mounted in the inner fender the right way not shabby holes under the hood..on my truck at about 3000-5000 it mones violantly. It just happens to be a manual tranny too.

I have had a Cone inthe engine bay/drop in an dnow a CAI. I say forget about the hood deal and get you a CAI. It is cheaper to do and you will definatly notice a gain. If you wanna spend money and stuff rather than spend about 70 for a Civic CAI yo ucan ge the sc or ram air hood and moddify it to your air box.
I say forget the rest and do the best. Get a CAI.
