i have a transmission from an 05 ga and want to make sure it will work in my 00. there is a difference between the pin outs and with the electronics a little but i have been told both that my computer will run the newer trans and that it will not. can anyone say for sure or am i gonna find out when i plug it in and try and drive away. tranny has plenty of life left as of now so if i need to swap parts from another trans into this one to make it work that's fine.
The pressure control solenoid is different...much different. The wiring is exactly the same but it won't run correctly unless you really do a lot of work to make the solenoid control the proper amount of pressure.

i assume i can swap the pressure control solenoid and wire harness from an 00 transmission into the 05 transmission and be good to go.
No. The valve bodies are different.

My 2000 gagt is almost finished up... the 3500 engine and transmission are back in, but I still need to finish up the exhaust and a few other items. I am using a transmission out of a 04 gagt, and I swapped out the pressure control solenoid for the older style. I also had to swap out the neutral safety switch as they also changed.
I will let you know how it works out, which shouldn't be much longer.
