Hey guys, finally got the SLP installed, i had it done at Fair Muffler in La Grange, IL, i was recommended to go there from a lot of people, and Denise who also had the SLP installed there. Anyways, i took some pictures.

So all of you know, The SLP was bought from Aleroboy, he needed the piping for his car, but didnt need the muffler/tips. So i bought it.

So I had Jim make a custom 2.5inch downpipe, what he did was remove the front and back of the cat, and grind off the pipes that entered the cat, made them larger, and attached the 2.5inch. Then he ran 2.5inch mandrel bent pipe to the muffler. The second he started it up, i was DROOLLINGGGGGGG, sounds so deep, like a camero. He does awesome work, and will give you a great deal. I paid 170 for the muffler from aleroboy, and paid 130 for the custom downpipe, and 2.5inch mandrel bent pipe from the cat to the muffler, he also removed the resonator(sp?). Anyways, he does the custom downpipe on a lot of GTP guys, and they have proven changes in track times, so i was like go for it.

The pictures arent that great, low lighted area, so anyways you can tell, also there are pictures of the awesome factory pipe, that has nice clamped areas, that didnt flow more then 3/4inch at most!!!!!!!! So enjoy =)

Doesn't really matter PAPI! Are you talkin about the way the inlet/outlet is on the Black ga?

Looks to me like Guru needs some catback piping on his car.
It looks stock from PAPIO's pic.:(

yeah i was talking about the inlet/outlet. and that pic i posted isn't guru's ride, it's greengt3 (i think). it doesn't really matter, i just thought all slp kits would go on the same! that's all.. looks really nice though! great job!

To be honest with you, i thought it was supposed to be that way also, but when he showed me how far the tips would stick out, and showed me how it would flow better the way it was installed, i said go for it, having it the other way the tips would stick out a few inchs, the way i have it, the tips are a little inside the muffler openings and looks like it flows with the cars grooves.

And to clear that up, Yep, im 100% italian, parents are straight off the boat =P

Thanks for the comments guys, and if anyone is getting a muffler installed in the chicago land area, go to the place i went too, the guys there are very cool, and will do anything you want, have great prices, and will be honest on what you should do as far as performance.

1st off...love that slp install looks really nice.

2ndly...sorry for bringing this back from the dead but i have a question...my slp just came in today...i checked out the attached configuration sheet and it looks to me, going by the attached pic, that it should look like the green gt's install. (very nicely done also) the inlets/outlets arent labled on the muffler itself and looking at your install job monello and the configuration pic that was in the box with my slp...what gives? why the difference? is the diagram wrong or is your install wrong?http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=94217 compare the above with this here V <==thas supposed to be a down arrow :)

The pic of the Green GT is how the setup is supposed to be. Whether it really matters or not is beyond me. My slp is setup like the Green GT, as the instructions stated. Mine doesn't really stick out. If I get around to it I may be able to get a pic or two, otherwise if I go to the chi-town meet.... meh...

Hey, from what they told me, it was easier to run that way, it also made the muffler look nicer from looking at it, and it made the tips stay under the bumper, like stock, i hate tips that stick out inch's i think it looks bad, and wanted the stock look, but with a better setup. He did state that it will flow a little better, and he has recommended doing this to every other firebird/ and camero that has been in his shop, so i dont know, i personally like the way its installed, and the job was still done the right way, just with a twist.

p.s. i also wanted to state, that the inlet/outlets are still being used the right way, the only difference is that it was mounted differently, its more leveled, while the SLP instructions state to mount it at an angle and the top of it going in the old muffler gap.

oh ok..i guess i can kinda see it now...it just looks really different from the diagram...it gets tireing looking at both pics and comparing them in different angles..but i noticed that the outlet tubes to the tips on both your car and the diagram are directly adjacent to each other (u can draw a straight line from outlet tube to outlet tube) i guess the easiest way to explain it would be if u look at my diagram and PRETEND the clamp on the "over-axel pipe" was very loose and u pulled on that pipe to make the muffler lay flat on it's side...then you would see what is in your picture...hehe i think. :)

I have my slp on the way the intructions show and the tips don't stick out that far. I don't see how the hangers lined up by the muffler but it's on and sounds good, thats what counts.
