Ok, so Hi, I'm Jay,
I'm new to this place and I'm crazy confused and pissed off/frustrated about this site and my car.

I recently inherited a 2004 Grand Am SE 3.4L, and with 3 days of having it, the first engine grenaded on me at 136K. I went to the local Pull A Part here and picked a 3.4L out of another SE that had 140k. Did the whole swap, and a ****ton of electrical and security problems later, it's running as it should be, I think.

As where I got frustrated here, I'm looking for the Performance Parts for the car that will give me the best HP, Best Torque, and most appeal and self satisfaction. Parts that i'm looking for are a CAI, Lowering and widening kits, Rear Disc Conversion Possibly? (i've seen it done before), the Speedo for a GT, Throttle Body, Exhaust Systems including the Catalytic Converter, Radiator and Cooling systems, Computer, and then maybe, just maybe, A turbo or supercharger...

I'm fine with the exterior things, I seem to find those things without any problems.

I am COMPLETELY Clueless on the whole engine part about the upper and lower intake manifolds, Pistons, Valves, and things like that, so help an eager kid out and teach me some things too? I'm willing to learn anything, since I barely know anything right now.

This car has given me so much problems in the last month that I just want to make it into something I can be proud of and beat my retarded friends and their V-Tec **** Cookers.

Thanks A TON! :D

Jay Sargent

Oh, things I'm looking at right now, Links Belows:

Headers and exhaust will open up the car for the most power. A 3500 top end swap from a G6 will help with it...

Cold air is good for noise and a little seat of your pants feel. Not too much else can be done these days for power without building it yourself like a turbo. How about a 50-75 shot of NOS? power on the spot.

Don't worry about radiators or cooling mods. Unless you are boosted and/or have a significantly higher HP level, you won't need them. It would be a waste of time and money.

Alrighty, Is there a pref for a CAI? I have a K&N on my dad's mustang and it works great. Pref on a Cat Back? And what is the standard size (Pipe) on a GA for a Catalytic Converter? 2.25 or 2.5? I just bought and Flipped a Chevy Lumina for some extra cash, so i'm good for it. OH and the UIM and LIM are easier things.

CAI, you can find on ebay, or make your own if you order your own parts and are handy with tools. Cat-back exhaust... there isn't much good out there right now other than Borla. Stock exhaust size is 2.25". The Borla is 2.25" also, but has smoother, better flowing pipes and lower restriction muffler. You can also get a custom cat-back made with 2.5" piping, or just cut off the stock muffler and put on a flowmaster and some tips if you are on a budget.
