View Full Version : Code frustration

Good day everyone. I had the SES light come on in the last few weeks.I had someone with a codereader check it out and 3 codes were displayed. P0130,P0134,P0171.
Here is a list of some parts that I changed in the last few weeks.
02 sensor (before cat),MAP sensor,Throttle positioning switch,Gas cap,PCV valve and fuel filter. I also had a new cat converter put in in 10/2009.
I get terrible gas mileage and now in the last few days the car revs up and down while stopped and almost stalls out. Has anyone here had a similiar problem? I'm at my wits end and am about to give up and bring it to the dealer.

P0130 either lean or rich o2 sensor going bad
P0134 o2 sensor not plugged in
P0171 running lean in bank 2 which I believe on the GA is the back side of the engine when facing it from in front of the car.
I have a feeling you have a wire that has burned through in the o2 line. Without those reading it will dump gas. Then run rich and lean itself out. Causing the lean code but sucking gas too. I would double check your connections.

Yeah, sounds like an O2 sensor not working.

The idle surge/near stall isn't explained by an O2 sensor. You sir have a vacuum leak.

Thanks for the replies. I've changed the o2 sensor. Is it possible it could be faulty? In regards to the vacumn leak, any ideas on where it could be?

Best way to find a vacuum leak would be to spray around the upper intake gaskets and all the vacuum lines with a can of brake cleaner. Do this with the engine running.
If the idle changes on a certain spot you've found the area your vacuum leak is located.

Thanks everyone for the replies....it turns out the o2 sensor I replaced was faulty.I installed a new one and the car runs like a charm.

Figured that was all it was. Could/would cause all your issues. Glad you got it worked out.
