Hi, new here! I have a 1999 Grand AM GT coupe, and recently began having a head gasket problem. Because the engine has 191,000 miles on it, I'm thinking I would rather invest in a used engine with lower miles rather than fix the head gasket problem and then have a different engine issue soon after. Does anyone know of any other car engines that will fit in mine besides another Grand AM GT? I appreciate any info!

OMG A FEMALE!!!!!! Best behavior boys!

If you were to search you would find that the most well done is a 3500 top end swap. Some people will use a 3.8 from the grand prix's.

Only common swap is a 3.8, and a terrible one at that, nimrod. That's why I recommended the 3500 top swap. Search yourself fool.

You can swap in an entire 3500 V6, but it takes some aftermarket parts and modifications to make it work... and that's the easiest engine to use since it's basically an evolution of your stock 3400 V6. There are no other engines that are an easy swap, or that would be any better. You really are better off sticking with another stock engine if you are looking for the cheapest, most reliable fix.

off topic, I see you are in Macomb? Former Michigander here myself. The parents still live in Shelby Twp and my brother is in Clinton Twp.
