OK. so my drivers side window decided to drop when I arrived at Ft. Gordon on Sunday. I was able to keep it up w/ some styrofoam that i put inside the door. Got a chance to check it all out today and both the clips were broken. The harder plastic piece that is glued to the front portion of the window acutally broke in half from the metal piece. IDK what is supposed to be attached to the back part of the window though.

I know it would be pretty easy to heat up the glue that the front clip is attached to the window so I can get it off.

The big question is.... would it be better/easier if I got the whole guide system (the motor is still good) or just replace the clips/sashes?

Replace just the clips. You're looking at maybe $30+ for a pair of clips vs $100+ for a new motor assembly. Granted my prices are out of date but clips is heck of a lot cheaper than motor.

Went to Advanced Auto and they had the sashes for $9.00+ for a set and luckily I had the clips from some time before (I think I got them from AutoZone).

The sashes are by Dorman. Part#: 38480 (OE#'s 22689012 and 22541970)

The guide clips are by Dorman also. Part#: 45348 (2 left front and 2 right rear). Tell me if that isn't weird... lol lol

Oh yea, Mine broke and the Dealer wanted $80 for 2. Also i live in a smaller town, so i dont know about everywhere, but mine, all the local auto shops only sell the full system. (Pulley, guide, motar, ect.)

Some pretty good pages for window issues:

and

As for the guide clips. Snap the little hex shaped piece attached the cable into the groove for it and then slide the two guide 'claws' onto the metal bracket. You'll have to come in at an angle, but they basically snap into place.

I'm about 90% complete. I still have to get the old sash off. I don't have a blowdryer. ;crap

Is there a spray or whatever that I can use to loosen up the glass adhesive?
