Ok for all those seriously interested in getting stainless steel valves with under cut stems for the 3400. please let me know,
SI valves will do them for us. This is the response from my last email:

MINIMUM QUANTITY AT THE FACTORY LEVEL IS 100 PIECES OF ANY PART NUMBER. IF
YOU CALL OUR SALES MANAGER, **********, HE CAN GIVE YOU A VERY CLOSE IDEA
OF PRICE AT THE 100 PIECE LEVEL. THIS PRICE WOULD BE A LOT BETTER THAN DOING THE
VALVES LOCALLY FROM BLANKS.

So prolly half the cost I'm guessing
of custom one off valves (which are 25 each)
gonna call tomorrow and see.
but to get 100 done I need 16 people willing to join me on this.

So if your for sure in, and have cash to play with email me your info
Johnbelveal@hotmail.com

I'm also working on forged pistons, forged rods, and a forged crank. Look for more info on these later

I might be game on the valves ... but it all depends how much!

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought our Gen 3 engines came factory with a forged crank and connecting rods???

Good luck fitting larger valves into the stock heads - the combustion chambers are pretty packed already, and I really don't like the idea of enlarging the combustion chamber.

Gen 3 engines come with a cast crank that is surface-treated. The rods are forged steel and rated up to 7000rpm operation, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't benefit from a nice polishing/shot-peening job. Regardless, I think the LA1 bottom end is pretty stout from the factory.

I think John is looking for stock size valves ... just undercut stems.

Thanx for the specifics! :)

Yes these would be stock size.
I'm not sure we could go much larger.
the rods I"m after would be equal to the ones in the ecotec taking butt loads of hp and boost.
