I've been having some issues with the speedometer needle bouncing. I did look through the search and also just took it into the shop.

My guy just called me back saying the sensor and wires are good and he thinks it could be the speedometer motor in the gauge cluster. My 2000 only has 73,300 on it so I do understand there will be mechanical issues that are going to start happening because of the body deteriorating, but have you ever heard of this happening before??

yes it can happen my 03 GMC 4500 had 26,xxx miles on it when the fuel gauge went wack and extended past the full mark and got stuck....had to get a whole new cluster as they couldn't just replace the faulty fuel gauge motor....

your best bet would be to get another cluster have it swapped in and see if the dealer will reprogram the correct miles (as the new gauge will have the miles of the car it came from stored in it)
