The 4T60E is rated at 280 lb-ft max while the 4T45E is 215 I believe, so it is stronger. The 4T45E is basically a more compact version of the 4T60E which is why it cant handle as much. The 4T60E will bolt up to the 99+ GAs, the only issue is clearance. You might have to do some research to find dimentions of each to see if it will fit. $695 is a great price tho if it was newer.

the 4t60 also doesn't have so nice of a gear ratio as the 4t45

Are you talking about the 4T65E? Like the Grand Prix tranny? Just making sure you really mean 4T60.

Yes the 4T65E is really good, it was used on the S/C concept. Another good thing about it is if you plan on putting some serious hp in your car, there are upgrades available for it.

Physically / mechanically making it fit is not your problem, it is your PCM software where the problem rests.

That is the biggest problem with our car is the damn PCM. Why couldn’t they have put in an ECU and TCU? It would have made life so much easier for us... But when they are designing these things I don’t think they look at people wanting to mod them.
