Did you just rip off the badges with pliers or fingers or what?...no harm will be done to paint or anything, right?

I must say my fingers were sore for a week after I shaved my badges....but to me that is the only way to be sure not to scratch it.....
don't cut your fingernails a few days before you do it!!

oh yeah goo-gone helped a ton too

use a hair dryer, heat them up, the what worked great for me, i got a zip tie and slid it behind and used it as a saw. then used wd-40 and goo-gone to get that stuff off. make sure you get pretty healthy coat of was on too!

i peeled the large areas of residue and adhesive off with my fingers (the part where you could still read grand am even with the badge off) and then used 3M adhesive remover for the small gunk that was left over.

That post was like a last minute "help me" post. I didn't read any of the responces in time

So I goes down to my car after purchasing a 100' extension cable for the hair dryer, which broke much to my GF's dismay. I ended up using my buddies heat gun on the 800 degree setting :boogie:

I do my right door with the hair dryer, sawing action and all. It took me about 15 minutes to get all the tape off. The residue came off VERY well with WD-40 (store on base didn't have adhesive remover) So my GF comes walking up and I ask her to help me out. I blow dry, she removes the sticky.

What she came up with was spray the sticky with WD and let sit for 30 - 45 seconds and then, voila!, just peel the whole mug off in one piece! I was quite impressed.

Works well and I'll post pics when I hood-wink a digi cam from someone.

P.s. White Grand AM owners take note .... You know how our cars look better to begin with? no offence anyone else :boogie: well when you shave a white GA, it adds even more to the optical illusion of our paint job, making the car look EVEN MORE wide and stoute!! I love it!!! :boogie: :boogie:

use fishing line to get them off
after removal pick the Taape off with your fingers
and then use wd-40 for the rest of the residue

I usually use a heat gun and pry them off with a screwdriver. I peel the bigger remains of the adhesive with my fingers, then use Meguires Body Scrub to get off the remaining. Always works for me.

you will need to go to a dealer and order them because when you take them off, the adhesive is ruined. Check this thread (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1309) i posted periodically to see if anyone gives you the numbers you need, then go to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com for them at cheaper prices! hope this helps

i was reading the n-body site and it said

"To remove this, take some WD-40, spray it on, and let it set for 5-8 minutes." isn't that a bit long?

and i know you should heat the badge foam up for 30s-1min, but how do u know if something is about to go wrong on your paint job? i don't want it smearing and all, safety first !

I used a hair dryer, some waxed dental floss and bug and sap remover. I heated the badges and then used the floss like a saw. I then would heat up the goo and work it off with my fingers. I then sprayed the sap remover and polished. Then washed and waxed...oh so nice. I still have then big blister on my thumb from burning it. oh well, the prices we pay.
