Okay,

F-bodies have it, now the Grand Prix! Who would be interested in this mod for the GRAND AM? I noticed this on the grandprixstore.com (pfyc).

Here is what it does...

"The MAF Translator Plus is a stand alone unit that attaches to the stock wiring harness on your L67 V6. Its simple operation allows you to adjust the air fuel ratio and spark timing across the RPM band. Timing can be advanced or retarded up to 14 degrees. A variable retard based on RPM is also available for NOS or Supercharged applications. Timing can be advanced at the low end and then retarded at higher RPMS or it can be tailored in other ways to suite any needs. The air fuel ratio can also be tuned using the Translator to make different parts of the RPM bands richer or leaner. This will provide much better fuel control than any other system when using the stock computer. Since the L67 and L36 are tuned from the factory to run rich, there is much horsepower to be gained by carefully tuning for a leaner mixture. The ability to tune for different modifications, environments, octane levels of fuel and circumstances make the MAF Translator Plus a must have tool for the performance enthusiast. We highly recommend the use of a scan tool like the Scanmaster (coming soon), Tech2 or AutoTap to provide feedback for proper adjustment. Not for the inexperienced, we highly recommend you understand the level of skill and knowledge you’ll need to make the most of this product before you buy it."

Hmmm, now this would be sweet. It is like a JET PCU that you can manipulate yourself...:D You would have fuel control and could choose **** or lean settings and timing can also be worked on!

True, true, but this would work for us all, NA, SC, NOS. I believe that it will not cure my ills though, because the car operates differently at WOT, the translator doesn't affect this.

There are a couple similar devices out there that are more "universal", and are also a little bit cheaper. I can't remember one of the sites off-hand, but check out the Perfect Power website (http://www.perfectpower.com) and look at the piggy-back units. I think the one that is similar to this is the SMT-5. Just for those that are interested....

I'm not sure on the exact price, but I know for a fact that it is cheaper.

I am still working on this mod, but check my post on the "SC Pulley and Running Lean" for more parts info for the fuel system.
