Updated Pics of Car with Clear Tails

Well i got a set of clear tails off ebay...157 shipped to my door. They look hella nice and i took a picture of them...as dirty as my car was i tried to clean the tails off a bit. I will be putting in LED bulbs as soon as i sell my SE tails. I got the red bulbs with the taillights so i didn't have to do anything..just change the lights over. Anyways. Here is a few pics.

I don't have the time to clean the car plus it gets dirty right away anyways...so don't mind the dirt..i tried to clean the tails up with some snow :)

157$ USD is a good price? you can buy GT tails from junkyards (unbroken and uncracked) here for 60$ USD..... i would so totally buy them then clear them myself..... on topic: they look very nice :)

haha...yah well back in the day i gave up on my search..there was no trashed GTs around here....and i was always too late or ppl wanted too much for them...so i just waited till one day i saw them. Since then i been a happy man

i don't think so. the dude i bought it from was from this board. i asked him..not sure what his nick is on here thought. But look at it this way...the first set sold for 340 bucks or something close to that haha..i got it for 157 shipped

Well I'd have to see them in person but personal I don't like them . But hey if your happy with them that's all that matters . will have to check them out in the spring

looks like you got a nice set. from what ive seen, those LED's will be a lot brighter and nicer looking than the regular red bulbs

well, im thinking the reason he bought them cleared already is cuz he doesnt wanna run the risk and crack them like most ppl (including myself):rage: junk yards sell them as stock......if he wanted the whole thing not cleared.......he woulda just have gone to the dealer........no need for ebay, time to ship, etc.........

well my clear third break light is almost done as well. just need to tint it a little to match the tails. Now my rearend looks all clear..just need to buy leds for everything

don't got a pic yet. not completely done...needs to be tinted to the specifications i want yet. then when i put all the leds in i will show u all pictures. I will be able to do a clear third break light for anyone who wants it for about 30 bucks, mostly labour on this puppy. you would have to send me your red break light piece and i would have it all done up and clear for you and send it back for only 30 bucks

Hi there! Nice job on the clear tails! Just wondering, how hard it was to do this mod? Anybody know of any online sites with detailed instructions?
Also, where/what LED bulbs are needed for the bulbs on the back?

And my final question is, for EBlend: are you gonna post some instructions, how to clear the third brake light? I would perfer to try this mod myself, as i already have LED bulbs (that animate, when i brake). So i realy don't want to depart with it!

yah i prolly will post instuctions up. Its faily straight forward. I will take pics as soon as i get leds...which i haven't ordered yet, waiting for a payment from someone in paypal. U need 3157 bulbs for the back, and you can use 3 194 bulbs in the third break light

(i probably will take my tail lights out, to see what all the bulb #'s are). As for the third brake light bulbs! I can't change mine, because i have 16 high intensity LED bulbs....... (check it out)

One of the guys in the car club(grands ontario (http://www.grandsontario.com) ) designed/made it! I just bought it off him!
Its cool! And its funny watching peoples reactions in my rear view mirror! (people watch it, point, look at each other then star at it some more (guessing they were discussing it)

All it is. Is a circuit board, and is plug-n-play right into the factory unit!

Well the most expensive stuff, is the LED's (high intensity LED's were used). I paid $100.00 (can) + gave him my facorty 3rd brake light. Well since were in the same club, i met him at Tim Hortin's (at a weekend meet) and he sold it, and installed it for me.....

Because i just bought another 3rd brake light to mess around with! And i took it apart. And it looks like it can't be cleared out. Looks like the entire lens is acually red (and not clear lens's with a red lenz inbetween)

hey. I don't got instructions, its reather complicated and best done with a rotery tool, but you have to make a new face out of clear plexiglass and put it in there. I did it on mine, looks really cool. I will get it tinted to match my clear tails tint. You can also get the lense engraved or soemthign to look cool. i can try to post some pictures, but i got this cheapo digital camera that it would look too good

ohh i will try to get some pictures tonight after i wash my car, its looks awfully dirty right now
