First thing I would do to make it louder is turn the whole box around. Subs facing the rear end. You will be very impressed that it will sound so much louder.....try tat and i think you will be happy. Unless you want to spend more money.

well your cd player is fine for now. You should buy some better subs, face the box to the rear of the car. Next time dont buy a prefab box, thats what it looks like that your using. Get better subs and build a box or have a box built to the right specifications of the sub(s). Then of course get a bigger amp. If you get a much bigger amp dont forget to upgrade your Amp wiring up to your battery!

I have 2-12" Jensen Subs (525watt handling) and I have 2-300watt amps, one for each sub. The box I have is kinda old anyways, but is the only one that I have that is ported. Does anyone think that I should get a bandpass box. What kind of subs, and amps should I get? I'm not worried about my wiring, because the kit was meant for 2-500 watt or 1-1000 watt amp. Thanks for your ideas.

Right now, I want to be cheap, but also have quality sound and parts. So if it is expensive, then I will just have to work more hours.

If you're going to be remodeling then why not clean up all that bunched up wiring.
Is that sheilded RCA cable? doesn't look like it from the pic so bundling it up like that may cause some funny interference.
Definitely turn that thing around for a little more bump.
Right now I'm lookin at a 1500.1 rockford amp for my 2 subs. Saves some wiring trouble and makes it a lot simpler back there so why not go for the 1000 watt mono.

well my first question is why turn the box around????i have been hearing this for some time now....turn the box for more bass....i dont buy it........i have tried my box both ways and the only thing i get out of it faceing to the rear is more rattling of everything in and around the trunk....i know alot of people that would aurgue it either way front or rear....it all depends on the sub, the encloser, and the car..........juyst my 2 cents worth.....
Shep what part of town and where do you hang?

I live out in the Grimes area. I used to go downtown a lot but nowadays since i am married I dont get down there much. So Mainly i hang around the strip from home to work. HAHA Are you in the Des Moines area? I drive a 2002 Black 4 door GT. Just have aftermarket chrome rims and a bumpin stereo. If you see me dont be scared to flag me down. I am usually in the West Des moines area.

In the GAGT Sedan, turning the box around does make a big difference. It works in most cars, though there are a few exeptions to this rule. It's like this: If the subs face forward, the pressure goes out, some of it goes into the trunk and reflects forward. This wave is not in phase with the part that goes straight into the car, and you get cancelation. With the box facing backwards, most of the wave reflects off the back of the car before much gets into the car first, and the reflected wave has a shorter distance to travel. What this means is there is FAR less cancelation, so more bass. More rattle is an unfortunate side effect, however.
To see if you have this problem, face the box forward, sit in the car, and turn it up to a nice level. Now, pop the trunk. If the bass gets louder with the trunk open, your box should face rearward. If not, you are an exception.
Inline - what impedance (ohms) are your subs, and are they single or dual voicecoil? Is that box sealed or ported, and is it close to the woofers recomended size? Is it a common chamber box, or are the two woofers in seperate spaces inside?
These things will have a big say in what you should do. Let us know, and we'll get you goin' in the right direction. ;)
