Your parents wouldn't let you leave state borders? Me and Alex took a trip to Indiana (5 hours away from Michigan) and his parents let him and he's 16! Man!..

Don't forget, if you're staying in a hotel, you have to be 21 to sign for the room. Ryan and myself will NOT be signing for people.

When me and Alex went to Indiana, we just paid for the room upfront in cash? They didn't ask any questions, regardless of me being 18.

Jeremy 03-17-2003 12:22 PM

That's Indiana. MI has strict laws about under age. We ran into an issue the first year with Amber. Since then, we've instituted a waiver that someone else (who's 21) signs for the room.

Damn. I even live in Michigan and I don't know this :p Thanks Jeremy. I guess we'll just have to have a trusting soul sign for us hehe.

Just say you married... that can't deny you a room if you are underaged...

also... why spend money on a room when ur back seats fold down... lots of room back there... just bring 2 pillows and a blanket...

Jeremy 03-17-2003 01:03 PM

Referr to Sik's post about sleeping in your car. To put it nicely... GAGT.com & the GAP Board doesn't want people sleeping in their cars. Like Matt Fuller said, once registration opens, people will be looking for roommates. You can then divide the cost of the rooms (which are at an even cheaper rate this year BTW) across a couple people.

I'm not sure if I read the very first post, about making their own beverages wrong, but as far as I'm concerned, I will not be drinking, nor will there be any under age drinking at this event. So, if you are under age, like myself, and you and the others, don't worry about it. There will be plenty of us youngins to hang out and keep busy.

balludc 04-03-2003 09:29 PM

i'm 20... and i'll be drinking something... coke and maybe some hawaiian punch... mmmmmmmm hawaiian punch is soooo good! as for boose... got in trouble for it once, learned my lesson! lesson learned was alcohol isnt what its cracked up to be. i can wait til i'm 21. :) AND it's too dayam expensive!!! I'd rather put that money towards the GA... ;)

Heres how I feel about the underage drinking. I can see not letting the 16-17 year olds do it because its big trouble if they get caught. But for 18-20 they are adults. Jeremy and Ryan even said they weren't parents. I mean hey we can die for our country why can't we drink. And i wouldn't bring the legal reason up because I know many of you even the older ones have participated in underage drinking or some other illegal activity cough street racing cough. But I do agree its suppose to be about the cars but when night falls and we arn't doing anything as a group like the tour or picnic were adults and should be treated like one and shouldn't have to worry about our own friends turning us in :( Oh and I WILL NOT be drinking thats just how I feel.

actually whoever is 21 with them will be arrested too... aiding the consumption of alcohol to minors. even if the one who's drinking it is 1 year old to 20 years old. I know at college parties... when the cops come, they IMMEDIATELY get the names of those 21 year olds who live in the house. big big big trouble and i'm sure the gurus would like to have no part of that

i was arrested once for minor consumption (long story short, it didnt happen..... i know people of high places.) but when i was arrested, the cops were dead serious about the older people. i guess i have a bit of respect for 21+ year olds i'm around, so i dont drink with them (or any lately). thats not right putting it all on their shoulders for a mistake you've done. and if you get arrested, you DEFINETLY be saying it was a mistake. There isnt nothing like giving a cop your identity and have you sit in the back of a cop car. I wish I could explain how I felt, but words couldnt describe it!!!
