I gotta give NE props...they didn't just beat the colts...but they dominated them. Now it's going to be the #1 defense vs #2 defense....#1 seed vs #2 seed...the way it's supposed to be! It's gonna be a great game on both sides with the NFC and AFC. The road to the superbowl goes through PA either way!

99GApunk 01-16-2005 11:30 PM

just like it did in 2002 :) it should be a great game (same on the other side of the bracket) and i cant wait, win or lose as long as both teams play well and exciting ill be happy. i hope to go down for the game if i can get/afford tickets

The JoKeR 01-17-2005 12:57 AM

go down for what game? If you're talking about the pit vs ne game...good luck getting tickets ANYWHERE near face value lol. Same with the superbowl though. I'm recording this game because no matter what the outcome is...it's going to be an instant classic!

pfffff, absolutely. montana was a reflection of his team. look who was around him? jerry ****, ronny lott, roger craig, john taylor...his team was stacked. not to mention he played in the absolute worst division in the history of the league at the time. montana would dink and dump down the field, where he'd throw for 5 yards, then the receivers would run for 30 or 80.

marino did it by himself mostly. not to mention he played in probably the toughest division in the league. the defenses could queue in on him, knowing that the team had little running game, and he would still pick them apart.

oh, and yeah, Montana is great, that's why he had set all the records marino had destroyed in his playing time.

i honestly didn't see in anything in Montana...nothing special at least. it's easy for a quarterback when you've got talent at all the necessary positions *cough* tom brady *cough*.

StephenM 01-17-2005 07:06 AM

I hate the Patriots, I hope they get their :bleep: handed to them either in the AFC Champ. game or in the SB.

StephenM 01-17-2005 07:20 AM

Well, I was 3 for 4 last week, so maybe I'll be perfect this week. Here are my predictions for this week coming up. Trust me, this is not what I WANT to happen, only what I THINK will happen:

http://espn.starwave.com/i/nfl/playo...atchup_phi.jpg > http://espn.starwave.com/i/nfl/playo...atchup_atl.jpg

http://espn.starwave.com/i/nfl/playo...atchup_nwe.jpg > http://espn.starwave.com/i/nfl/playo...atchup_pit.jpg

Personally, I'm pulling for ATL all the way, and I don't care who beats the Pats as long as someone does.

elim 01-17-2005 07:24 AM

gimme the steelers and the falcons. gotta stay true to my original super bowl pick.

how about *cough* peyton manning *cough* he has a more talented group of WRs then anyone. and his running back.

i dont know why anyone ever thinks of brady as a hot shot. his stats arent bad, not great either, but since football is a team sport, who cares who has the best stats? the superbowl rings are really all that matters in a team sport

superbowl mvps and victories > any record or mvp trophy

yes, but Brady has the NE defense, just like Montana had his. Manning is loaded on offense, but the reason why I don't compare him is because his team is severly lacking on defense.

i'm not saying brady is a hot shot, i'm just saying i'm not going to be so quick to say he's so great like people were doing 1-2 years ago and some still, until he gets put on a team where he is required to perform to a high standard week in/ week out without much help.

i really can't argue that, because it's personal opinion.

luniz 01-17-2005 08:57 AM

Even though Brady's numbers were not great, he managed to almost always convert a 3rd and long. That was the difference between Manning and Brady. The Pats D was on the ball so quickly. They dominated the Colts from the first kickoff to the end. I would have to say the the SB will be Eagles and Pats.

If the Pats D plays like they did yesterday, I don't see any team beating them.

that wasnt really meant to attack your statements, more so people who think we worship brady here. and i couldnt agree with you more, he hasnt had to prove much, he can generally have a bad game and not worry too much about it. and he was very over-rated, still is really

anyone see bruschi's hit/rip of the ball away from rhodes? thats what i like to see in the playoffs :metal: . to me it seemed the colts gave up on the run way too early, and trying to forcw passes is cold slippery weather just got the best of them

sidenote: reading the boston globe today, all the patriots had nothing but good things to say about the colts. i know no one cares, but it makes me proud that the team i cheer for doesnt overlook opponents, look ahead of the next game or get too ****y

I hope the opposite of what you predict happens.

I would like to see Cowher get his ring and reward the Steelers for their loyalty to him.

Honestly, I really have no justifiable reason. I just don't like them as a team. I like Dillon, I like Law, I think Coach Bill is one of the best ever, but they are just a boring team to watch. They don't do anything spectacular, they just flat out win (which works, so I'm not saying its a bad thing). I give them kudos for beating the Colts, I didn't think they would. But there is no reason I don't like them, other than the fact that I just don't like them.

GregFarz78 01-17-2005 12:51 PM

I hate tom brady I pick him 2 years in a row for fantasy football he performs average all yaer then kicks ass in the playoffs AFTER my fantasy league is over

good enough for me, i was just curious. i feel the same way about other teams, especially in baseball

braves511 01-18-2005 12:28 PM

Brady may not have numbers like manning, but he has proven he is cool under pressure. For proof look at the past few playoff games before this year where he ran the two minute drill to perfection leading to winning drives. Especially in the 2 super bowls. Vinatieri should have been MVP of atleast one of those super bowls but Brady did run the two mintue drill calling the plays and adjusting on the line to get clsoe enough for Vinatieri to make the kicks, so he has proven himself in tight spots. Until it can be shown otherwise I am going to have to agree with the analysts (sp?) that he is that good. I know the defense helps but baltimore had a great D and hey still couldnt win it all this year or last, so you have to have a QB who can make the plays when it counts.
