Except for the fact that since they had to make molds for the SD-style hood that was never offered by them until now...

tido_29 06-14-2006 05:13 PM

:( I want the SD one.. :(

lightningGA 06-14-2006 06:13 PM

SC/T for me :D

badinstincts 06-15-2006 10:25 AM

umm, are these CF hoods going to have a Carbon Fiber looking finish or are they just using carbon fiber to keep them strong. Painting is expensive and I'd be happy with just a shiny carbon fiber hood on my black grand am gt...

oh and i definitely want an sc/t, if it does come finished already. =)
if they even paint it, that would we awesome too, black of course..

Bouchie11982 06-15-2006 04:16 PM

if you wanted to paint over C/F, then why get it?? get the fiberglass instead. you wouldn't have to worry about going down too deep into the hood and hitting the weave. you just need to take some of the resin off so the paint will stick. or do what i was gonna do and paint some areas and leave the rest C/F

Yeah, so what? If they already have the molds made and the big wait has been they can't get the CF, then my original statement stands true. They could have used the same molds and just made the hoods out of fiberglass only for the people that wanted that. Sometimes you're such a 'tard.

SikMindz 06-15-2006 06:52 PM

IF, IF and IF. That wasn't the case had you read what had happened. There were no molds made until the CF was available. Sometimes you're so oblivious...

rickhigginshtbr 06-15-2006 08:21 PM

they didnt make the molds then because no one expressed interest in fiberglass hoods.

Bouchie11982 06-16-2006 05:45 AM

actually, i wanted the SD hood in fiberglass and they told me that they would be making it for me. i was told that the hood would be done in a couple of weeks. A month and a half later, i emailed Will to see what the deal was, i was told that the SD mold has not yet been made  he could have told me that when i SAID i wanted the fiberglass version

GTgoddess 06-16-2006 07:02 AM

so all in all..........is this ever going to happen? because I could use my 100 bucks.

mr_eh 06-16-2006 07:05 AM

09-12-2005

now it's 6/18/06

i think its time to give up lol

GTgoddess 06-16-2006 07:11 AM

haha I didn't send my money in until like December if I remember correctly. There is still hope!!!!!!!! haha

Mendoza 06-16-2006 07:24 AM

I coulda hand made this hood by now.

lightningGA 06-16-2006 04:09 PM

I've been told hoods would be ready to ship the begining of July as long as the molds come out OK

Again, so what. They could have made the molds ahead of time. Their fault for being stupid and waiting....

Here's the real question for all you other people that have been waiting for hoods and now are saying you just want the SD hood or SC/T hood in fiberglass blah blah blah.... why the hell don't you just buy one from PFYC? They have the orginal SD hood anyway (cerious is making another rip off just like the SC/T which is exactly like the GM hood), and they are both made of fiberglass and are also higher quality and stronger. So what are you waiting for? If you want that hood you can have it now. (did I forget to mention PFYC's customer service is better?)

Bouchie11982 06-16-2006 05:54 PM

....and reason why i dropped out a while back for a couple reasons. glad they got the CF they needed. i've got my hood for the same price i would have paid for Cerious and it's already going for paint monday (finally.....long story)

Grand_Damn 06-19-2006 12:33 AM

but the deal that was going on here was it would of been cheaper to buy this group buy then to buy the Fiberglass version. Or was it the same price but it would of been CF.

Bouchie11982 06-19-2006 02:53 PM

i was told that they would make the fiberglass one and sell it to me for the SAME PRICE as i would if i had gotten the CF one.......

rickhigginshtbr 06-19-2006 04:50 PM

i dunno why they told me $500 then (insert smiley for shrug here)

Bouchie11982 06-19-2006 06:27 PM

because that's what they would have sold it to you for....same with me

rickhigginshtbr 06-19-2006 08:14 PM

huh? i thought you said they told you 600? they told me 500.... i dunno, either way, as long as this things on and *hopefully* painted by albany, it's all that really matters to me. :)

Bouchie11982 06-20-2006 06:44 AM

LOL yes it would be 500, after the $100 deposit i gave them. sorry for the confusion

badinstincts 06-21-2006 09:04 PM

Bouchie11982, you purchased a 99+ GA after owning a 94 GA? why?

Anyways, any word on these hoods, or what???

lightningGA 06-22-2006 05:23 AM

The sooner the better, cause summer is slowly getting shorter and shorter. 8-(

badinstincts 07-05-2006 11:30 PM

where da hoods at . . . .

lightningGA 07-06-2006 05:28 AM

latest email received yesterday:

Quote:

Update: The prototype came in looking decent, but is in need of some refinement before the final molding. The original was made in a strange way, not like a typical hood. But we hope to get the prototype finished this week, for molding next week.

videoman 07-18-2006 10:33 PM

Two weeks later, I am still tapping my foot, waiting for my hood.

Any news?

lightningGA 07-19-2006 02:49 PM

I just emailed them last night...waiting for a response...I'll post it as soon as I hear anything

SC/T02 07-23-2006 08:10 AM

I spoke to them on Friday. They said it looks like late September at the earliest for the production of those pieces.

digitalballz 07-23-2006 03:30 PM

tommy00gt1 07-23-2006 05:29 PM

It's getting ridiculous already.... Cripes, you people will be as old as me when the damn things are ready, lol....

EDIT >> Oops, my age is not listed on my profile; I thought it was, lol... I am 51. See? You've also got memory issues to look forward to also !!!

rickhigginshtbr 07-24-2006 03:04 PM

Just got an e-mail back from them, hopefully this should clear up some issues:

Quote:

I'm not sure where you heard this, but we are working on the SD hood right now, we got the prototype in, and it was in need of some refinement, it is being worked on now, it will then be molded and production will start. We initially weren't expecting to get the carbon we needed in until September, but we recently received a shipment, which is just enough for the pre-ordered hoods. We won't get enough carbon for orders past the pre-orders until about September.

Hope this clears thing up.

So how long is this going to take now? Not sure, but I would assume by the 2nd week of August we should finally begin seeing these.

lightningGA 07-24-2006 04:32 PM

and here's the email I just received....I was looking for an estimated completion date:

Quote:

We're trying to complete the hood as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. I cannot give you a date, but we are currently getting very close to molding the prototype, and beginning production.

Mendoza 07-24-2006 04:47 PM

If a company gave me that kind of reply to a product I already ordered I would flip! Did they tell you guys when the hood would be produced by or did they say whenever we get around to it?
