I'm not going to argue... Denver did win because of New England's mistakes...

Who's the Better Team? I dunno, but either way New England lost, and thats a good thing.

I'm sick of seeing the same super bowl champ again and again... even more reason for the Colts to win this year...

99GApunk 01-15-2006 01:38 AM

you sure wouldnt be sick of it if it were your team lol

thats the way it always is

people hated dallas (me included) back in the day unless you were a dallas fan

Cormaster 01-15-2006 03:03 AM

I'd love to see Indy start a dynasty...but for now, i'd be happy if they just won this year...

I've seen my other team, the Indiana Pacers, get to that final step many times and choke... Now the pacer era is pretty much over. I would of loved to see them start a dynasty but I would of been more than happy just to see them walk away with a championship one time. One time they did acctually make it to the finals, but lost to the lakers in 6 games.

Now the Pacers have stepped down and the Colts have stepped up. One year is all I want. If we start a dynasty, than awesome, but give us our one year!

99GApunk 01-15-2006 08:44 AM

well now every boston team has had a good championship run, sure the red sox's was over 100 years ago.... and the celtics was decades ago as well... but you cant win every year, and I understand that, however it is true that some pats fans around here got spoiled, but these are the ones that didnt go to the 3 win seasons and didnt watch every game on tv no matter the outcome.

in a way i hope this season pushes them away altho i doubt it.

for the hardcore new england fans boston is a football town, but in the big picture if you compare all the fans to pitt or cincy or cleveland ect. we fail in comparison.

i would include indy in that list, but if you get to watch every home game in a dome and never have to endure -degree temps and snow for the whole game i say you dont count lol (kidding)

Cormaster 01-15-2006 09:06 AM

I'm just hardcore about my hometown teams in general... There are a lot of fair weather fans in this town, I'm not one of them. Even as the Pacers have fallen from championship contenders to just another decent basketball team, they are still my favorite... I gotta admit I'm not as hardcore of a fan as i used to be, but its not my team so much as it is basketball in general. After the Pacer-piston brawl, and seeing how hard the NBA came down on my team (Ron Artest is an a**hole... if they suspended him for a year it was understandable, but to punish the whole franchise? thats just harsh), I lost a lot of interest in basketball... It was a little ironic that right after the game the Colts played the lions in Detroit on thanksgiving, lol.

In a way I feel kind of like hometown hero Reggie Miller stepped down, and Peyton Manning stepped up! of course neither of them are hoosiers, but you know what i mean.

Some of my friends have asked me what I'm going to do with all my colts stuff if the Colts crash and burn this year. I've told them "I'm going to keep wearing it! After all the Pacers are still my fav. basketball team!"

99GApunk 01-15-2006 09:46 AM

im the same way with hometown teams.

i wear a bruins hat every day.... and if you follow hockey at all.... yeah they suck now

Yeah ok, you expect Washington to go all the way to Seattle and win this game? Do you know what Seattle's record is at home in the last 3 years? Seattle just had a bye week, the best RB in the NFL and one of the loudest staduim out there (Take a look at the Giants game) Seattle gave Washington 3 turnovers and they still lost. Seattle also did it without their star RB most of the game.

99GApunk 01-15-2006 11:12 AM

indy is playing the run and pitt is making em look retarded on this first drive so far

terrible pass, great catch

my update: manning looks more uncomfortable than any QB ive seen in this years playoffs. he just will not plant his feet, even when he isnt getting a rush

colts got screwed on that facemask penalty... i hate that rule, aparently if you are on offense you can grab a facemask as much as you want. should have been offsetting

Ajaxus 01-15-2006 12:18 PM

matt, can you edit your post with the score since im at work?

MSJHWT 01-15-2006 12:48 PM

yeah that pass by wayne shoulda been caught...

But as awesome as manning is, he shoulda known better than to try big plays right off the bat against the steelers.

Of all the teams...why pitsburgh....WHY!!!!

I hope denver injures rothlisburger and ends his career!

I hate the steelers....

Watch out, super bowl 41 is ours!

99GApunk 01-15-2006 02:47 PM

That is real intelligent....since your team lost a good well fought game, you wish that another player gets hurt? Why can't people just take the loss....the Steelers may not BE THE BETTER TEAM...but today they were!

bryan1727 01-15-2006 03:04 PM

I dislike both teams but I'm happy the steelers won. The Manning family can't win a big game to save their lives.

99GApunk 01-15-2006 03:20 PM

i like dungy, wish he could have won with everything that happened. but that team was never really his anyways, its peyton's team. i know vanderjerk blew it, but peyton;s horrific start didnt help much.

steelers definitely played great today, better than ive seen them play all year probably

21-18? The Colts were lucky... There were 3 calls made by the officiating crew in that game that were flat-out wrong. Talk about home field advantage. I'm very proud of the Pittsburgh Steelers for beating the "best team in the AFC" in light of the fact that the officials were doing the best they could to help the Colts out.

same in the denver game, barely any penalties were called, the ones that were went against new england, one that many impartial anouncers have called the worst pass interference ever called in the playoffs

I completely agree. I watched the Denver game in disbelief as well.

The officials are supposed to "officiate the game," not control the outcome. I would rather see the better team win than have the officials start to help either side. But in the Pittsburgh and NE games, it was blatantly obvious. At the half in the Pittsburgh game it was 14-3, and of course the officials went to work in the second half by not calling a Manning safety, over-turning an interception by Palamalu that even Helen Keller couldve made the call on, and throwing a flag against the steelers on a incompletion on 3rd and 8 when there was no one in sight. Ridiculous.

So much hype about the RCA Dome and Pittsburgh walked in and owned the Colts. I love football.

Cormaster 01-15-2006 04:08 PM

I didn't really care how Indy won...if we would of won by bad calls, pitsburgh deserved it after they won by bad calls in '96.

As long as you agree....

99GApunk 01-15-2006 04:13 PM

another call in the pats game was on the field goal, there was a false start that was even pointed out by the anouncers (which never happens). just plain horrible officiating

that mellon and apron commercial... i love that, funny as hell, some good acting in that.

as far as the noise in the rca dome, it does seem abnormally loud even on TV, even when the steelers were on defense the steeleres fans sounded loud

After the regular season Colts/Steelers, the NFL issued that warning to all teams about enhancing crowd noise. And today, several Pittsburgh reporters at the game noted that the crowd wasn't nearly as loud as it was on that Monday night game even tho this was a playoff game. Coincidence? Probably not.

Cormaster 01-15-2006 04:22 PM

probably harsh what I said about rothlisberger...and I didn't mean it...

but you seriously gotta feel my frustration... Its as if a curse has been put on the city of Indianapolis... The pacers made the conference finals in 1994...the official start that Indy has a chance in a championship sports game. Its 2006... 12 years have passed, and its like the movie "groundhog day" every year. My friends kinda think I'm nuts...hell my friend kev just wants to see the pacers or Colts win so people can die in riots downtown...yeah he's an immature prick. This isn't a violent city, we wouldn't do that... we are nice to the visiting teams fans in fact. I'd be ashamed if it did happen to be honest. Anyway I just wanna see a big "W" for Indy for a change...

And for me, who's been through hell in the past 3 years, the colts and pacers sometimes are all I got. Sorry if I was a **** to the steeler fans, but you gotta feel my pain. Steelers have won superbowls. Colts have yet to make a superbowl (at least in indianapolis...)

On a more serious note the Colts didn't play their best game... and yes they did get some lucky breaks, both from bad calls, and a crucial interception. They never really capatilized on any of them, however. Biggest mistakes by the colts:

#1. Peyton manning, what are you thinking? Run that ball man. They've watched the tape since the 80 yard touch down pass to harrison... hell they even had it on their site! Run that ball. For the first half of the game, Peyton kept trying ot make these big plays and huge passes, and pitsburgh new better. Peyton should of known better himself.
#2. The Cato June interception. of course this goes back to #1. The colts should never get a pick and not capitalize on it. but yeah it goes back to #1. after the intercepiton, Peyton kept going for long plays instead of running the ball.
#3. Defense was weaker than it should of been. We said we were going to stop their running game, but we kept going after the QB Instead of the running back. Let Rothlisberger pass...its a known fact if he throws more than 20 passes the games lost...instead we left Jerome bettis and willie parker open way too many times. And during those times it game Big Ben more time to perfect his passing game
#4. Vanderjact! What the hell! I could of understood if if was short or barely off, but its like he just freaked out and kicked it for the hell of it. Did he even try to make that field goal? Looking at him, it looked like it was too much pressure for him to take...

Colts need to do something about their Post Season performance. They always seem to kick ass in the season, then suck in the post season. I'm still holding on... Superbowl 41!

but seriously I think the sign in front of the city border should read "welcome to Indianapolis, where theres always next year!" This year the Colts motto was "Make it personal"... hopefully next year they will make it "Theres always next year!" I'm going to submit that to the team!

Furthermore whats even worse is I could feel the loss all week... Its like the odds were all in our favor, hell even the analyst were in our favor...but I could just feel a colts F**k up was in process... looking back maybe the colts should of shakin off that loss to san diego, and played the starters against seattle and arizona.

elim 01-15-2006 04:59 PM

Great game to watch, emotion wise. Didn't really care who won, but glad it was a good game. Officiating was terrible...especially on that play where there was 'no foul'? When the Steeler o-linemen CLEARLY moved early AND the Colts defenders jumped, but didn't cross into the neutral zone? WTF?

At the end, if the guy running the ball back after Bettis' fumble cuts to the outside instead of back to the middle of the field, it's a touchdown. There's no way Ben catches him or any of the trailing o-linemen. Dumb play on his part.

And that interception that wasn't?? Wow. I'm not sure what constitutes a catch anymore in the league...but come on refs.

Oh, and that was definitely pass interference on Wayne on that pass to the endzone at the end of the game with like 25 seconds left. Ref just didn't have the balls to call it in a tight situation like that.

Cormaster 01-15-2006 05:06 PM

yeah but honestly as a colts fan, their were a lot of bad calls, and missed calls on both teams... if officiating would of been perfect, and everything else played out the same, steelers still would of won.

After this year, its hard to root for them again... waiting all year long, watching them beat every team that crosses thier path, getting everything they want for the playffos, and crashing and burning... its gotta be the biggest upset in nfl history. maybe momentum really does play some kind of role. In a way I also belive a lot of it has to do with the steelers: The more experienced team, just knows how to play better in the post season.

I don't really know how Indy can rebound from this next year... Can the offense really get any better? Arguably the best offense in league during a regualr season game, arguably the WORST offense in a post season game... I don't know how you can really fix that? As for defense, its good, but still not good enough. I won't be happy till I see Indy with the #1 defense. The fumble recory at the end of the game was amazing...but I was hoping to see a lot more fumble recovories and interceptions on indianapolis's part.

that wasnt pass interference, unless you are saying offensive, the defender had the same position andthey both went up for the ball, no one grabbed anyone or hit anyones arms before the ball got there... looked pretty clean to me, unless im thinking of another play

Cormaster 01-15-2006 05:20 PM

I know the play he's talking about... I'm unsure really whether it was pass interference or not...but it doesn't matter cuz the colts F*cked up 2 chances afterwards! The fumble should of been returned for a touchdown, and the field goal should of been good... not like it makes a difference now. Its all history now.

Colts definitly made history. Probably "best team in the NFL to go down to the 6th seed team!" maybe "first 13-0 team to not make it to the superbowl" GOD I'M BITTER!

Now I'm honestly thinking maybe Peyton needs to go....

99GApunk 01-15-2006 05:28 PM

steve smith has almost as many yards as the entire broncos offense had last night already

elim 01-15-2006 05:33 PM

Nah, the Colts just need an offensive coach to teach their o-line how to hold and get away with it like the Patriots...OOPS! :)

read: the o-line is good with dealing with the play calling, etc. of Peyton, just can't hold enough time to let him get the pass off against somewhat decent defenders.

Cormaster 01-15-2006 05:36 PM

:ets face it... in a regular season game, Peyton Manning looks like the best QB of all time.... in the Post season, he looks like David Carr...

Today I could of told him what to do... run the ball dammit! Run the F**KIN ball! Instead he's trying to throw these 80 yars passes the whole first half... he finally seemed to realize what he was doing wrong right before the half, but going into the half 14-3 I was allready starting to loose faith...

After watching Indianapolis SPorts for 12 years, this is the most heartbreaking tragic loss in indianapolis History. Everything was laid out for them, they just couldn't take it.
