hahaha 8 freaking hours?!?!?!?! **** that lol I've got so many scratches on my car, it's not even funny. I'll start and get pissed off and won't even care anymore. Everyone.........don't pay attention to details on my car. thanks. :D

Metallman56 03-30-2006 08:04 AM

man that would be sweet. i am soo gonna wash mine when we get there to. its knda pointless to spend all that time detailing before a road trip, if you dont wash the car when you get there. if you want me to bring anything speaical let me know, check out the last pic, on the first page of my cardomain to see what i mean.

SilverEcstasy 03-30-2006 08:18 AM

Well I haven't waxed the car at all since I've purchased it. And the first time I washed her, I was sat in absolute HORROR at the amount of crap that was stuck in the paint. Rail dust, cigerette sparks and stains from jerks on the freeway, black splotches. You name it, its in the paint. Hence it took me FOREVER to clean out the crap. And I still have tons left over that will have to come out another time. Otherwise, I did the best I could.

I wish I woulda taken a picture of the claybar, it was BROWN from all the stuff that was coming up out of the paint. All in all, very worth it. And atleast I know the paint's protected from the elements on the road trip. If need be, i'll do it again when I get back. Otherwise I think it'll be fine. I posted up pics too a few pages back.

GTgoddess 03-30-2006 08:20 AM

well maybe if i have a car, such as a GTO some day, it'll be worth spending that much time in cleaning the exterier. BUT I don't. It's only a GrandAm. And hopefully i'll be getting a new paint job this year, so i'm not gonna waste my time :) haha

UNCTYPE-S 03-30-2006 08:21 AM

why dont we just change the meet location to a DIY carwash?

Metallman56 03-30-2006 08:23 AM

what kind of wax did u use?

2001 Camaro Z-28 A4 car.

DrFabulous 03-30-2006 10:23 AM

1st, I hate you people for having nice weather. It's kinda raining, 45 degrees or so here. Sucks.
2nd, I just went out to try and clean my car a bit... and it's dirty as HELL. I'm never going to get it even somewhat clean for this weekend. My engine bay has mud everywhere, the outside is dirt/mud on the bottom half, and the number of dents and rock chips make me want to cry. I seriously don't want to spend another dollar on this car after the springs and exhaust.
3rd- I finally broke out the struts I want to install on Friday... and damn, they look like they're from the 80's. lol

UNCTYPE-S 03-30-2006 10:43 AM

do you guys have carwashes up there? Maybe try one of those instead of breaking your back doing it yourself.

DrFabulous 03-30-2006 10:46 AM

Yea, we do... but if I wash it today, it's just going to get muddy tonight. So what's the point?

5-lO 03-30-2006 11:07 AM

Stop playing in the mud then fag !

Matt do you need my address?

Im sooo exctied for this weekend, w00t!

Metallman56 03-30-2006 11:16 AM

I'm going for a world record today, full exterior detail in 3 hours and full interior detail in about the same amount of time. I'm gonna take before and after pictures as well.

Finish out my laptop mount tonight....o lord, this is gonna be INSANE!

I work for a mortgage company and no we are not hiring at this time.

haha I'm only playing. I just found that pic on the web. I fooled alot of people though with it.

Metallman56 03-30-2006 12:53 PM

yeah u had me going. but i was kidding about the hiring thing. yippy. who is this fool with the gtblow?

DrFabulous 03-30-2006 12:57 PM

Yea, Jon... I'll either get your address, or just call you when I get close. Did you get my text last night or no??

I am going to send it thru a quick wash tomorrow morning, but who knows what it'll look like when I get there. I'd do it now, but I'm going out with the GF tonight, which means going out to her house, which means dirt roads up the ass. And even if I did clean it tomorrow morning (which I can't, because I'm working 3:30-9 and leaving at 9:15)... the 400 mile drive will own my car. Besides, the cleaner it is, the more the rock chips stick out. :(

Metallman56 03-30-2006 01:00 PM

i just went outside and the best word i can use to describe it is "perfect" sorry doc!

hahaha it's ok, we had that exact weather the last 2 days over here.... and it's actually the PERFECT day to do anything on a car that's not on the exterior... it's fairly bright, but no direct sun.... hardly any wind.... 45-50 degrees.... very comfortable to work in.

Metallman56 03-30-2006 01:05 PM

yeah thats not too bad

DrFabulous 03-30-2006 01:08 PM

Yea I know... I finally got *some* work done on the car yesterday/today. You know the little chrome trim rings around the windows on SE's?? FINALLY got rid of mine. It's not perfect, but 10x better than having the chrome. Now the only part of my car that's not black or blue are the headlights, wheels, and the outline of the Pontiac logo on the front.:boogie:
