brand doesnt matter for a c.b radio but if were talking 2-ways differnt brands use differnt freqs. a cobra on channel 1 is differnt then a beltronics on channel 1. trust me on this.

also aj your stock alt should be fine, i think your inverter is over kill for what you have, so the ps2 and laptop shouldnt draw that much power. try it and see what happens.

UNCTYPE-S 03-29-2006 07:35 AM

uhhhh, my 2 way comment was for the nextel people, but if you guys are bringing walkie talkies, then I guess that's cool too.

Sorry, not all of us are cool and pimp like you. lol

I was at Denise and Adam's the other night, checking out the SS and picking up my exhaust.... and Adam said to make sure to ask you about some deal with small condoms or something... :haha:

Ajaxus 03-29-2006 07:56 AM

jim, somebody mentioned channel 10, does nextel have multiple channels?

silverecstasy also mentioned using two-ways and not cell's, nextel would count as a cell. :)

metallman, i see what you're saying, for our caravan atleast those will work, when we get there we can figure out what frequency to use with everybody else. they'll actually come in pretty handy when we hit the heavy traffic going around chicago since the expressway lanes are closed.

as for the alternator, my inverter's input says 22.0-25.5vdc, iirc thats higher than the alt. as of now the inverter wont even power on, so i cant test it on the ps2 and laptop. i bought it to handle both, and now it doesnt even frickin work. :(
im gonna go to radioshack today and ask them for assistance, even tho they dont manufacture this anymore its still their product and they should still be able to assist me, if they refuse im gonna give them hell. :)

Metallman56 03-29-2006 08:27 AM

ok so the dan ryan is closed for constrution? my g/f's dad told me last night. he said there expecting mega delays and all alternitive routes will also be packed. people who live in/around chi, wtf should we do? stay on the dan ryan, or find a alternite route?

edit: sorry I hit edit instead of quote on your post metallman OOPS! Sorry!

I believe it was just the express lanes of the Ryan that are closed, not the whole thing? That's what my brother said as he takes it everyday. It will be a saturday afternoon so maybe it won't be as jam packed as a normal rush hour day. But then again chicago traffic sucks all the time! Oh how I miss it lol

did you try going to http://www.dot.state.il.us/ and see if they have any iformation there? on alternate routes.

oh try this..... http://www.avoidtheryan.com/ a website on how to avoid the ryan LOL hilarious!!!

Metallman56 03-29-2006 08:39 AM

here is what i found.

http://www.danryanexpressway.com/

sorry i meant to say the express. its normally heavy traffic when both are open. should be interesting. i'm thinking new route.

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 08:46 AM

These are the directions we're taking. For some reason I can't interpret wether we'll even have trouble with this on our way there. Our way to chicago on sunday might involve this project though.

i94 West towards Chicago
Merge onto i294 N
Merge onto i290 W toward IL-64 (Rockford/US-20)
Take the IL-72/Higgens Road Exit 1B towards IL-58 Golf Road
Make a U-Turn at Mall Drive onto E. Higgens Road.

UNCTYPE-S 03-29-2006 08:46 AM

fock if I know man. I would've had you take 57/dan ryan to 90 to 290 I think it was, but you will be in a ton of traffic if it's going to be backed up. I say go for it. It's Saturday, it shouldnt be nearly as bad as the weekdays. Otherwise you guys are going to have to make a huge detour. Unless there's another secret hidden way that I dont know about.

You could get off ryan at 99th. Take 99th st. to 95th. 95th to 294N. 294N to 290W. Get off at Higgins, but that is worst case scenario.

Metallman56 03-29-2006 08:52 AM

wow thats not confussing. i hate construction. i will see what my gps says to do.

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 08:58 AM

Well i've got a friend of mine who lives in Chicago and he said that if I take the way I stated, i'll pass by all of that. Only problem is, going into Chicago on sunday I'll run into it. However he's going to give me directions to his place and we'll go to the city from his place.

Tom2K2GAGT 03-29-2006 09:02 AM

You can stay on i80/i94 when you are coming into IL from IN and take it to i294 N then i290 West and stay on that and it will merge with Rt 53 and get off at Higgins and you will be right there. The woods is right East of that exit. This way you mostly avoid the Dan Ryan completely. Hope that helps.

No problem!! Yes they are talking about that construction project on the news now every night to make sure everyone knows lol

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 09:35 AM

The one thing that everyone forgets, that I'm thinking would be really convenient...fold up chairs.

Ajaxus 03-29-2006 09:38 AM

denise can claim half of the senseless posts herself, hehehe

but not all of this was senseless, just jim and denise's thing about age, most of it was figuring out our route and communication.

edit: stupid comp didnt show the last 3 posts..grrrr

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 09:42 AM

Here's a curious question...when we get to the hotel, how are we going to claim those reserved rooms? Are they all next to each other too? Or atleast on the same floor?

FastSteve 03-29-2006 09:47 AM

What kind of meet was this again? When is it? Where is it? Who can come to it? Just thought I would ask, lol. ...

Heh, I thought I mentioned about the rooms already, I have them reserved under "Grand Am Spring Meet" (but i think their computer cuts off the meet part...)

Anyways, me and the Indiana crew will be there long before you guys are and work out any details with the hotel. Just give me a buzz when you get into town on my cell and I can meet you there if need be.

Cell: (574) 261-3842

FINALLY people are coming out of the woodwork. I was gonna say, if only 10 people show up to this thing I'm gonna be pretty dissapointed in the midwest after this one...

GTgoddess 03-29-2006 10:15 AM

haha Sorry Denise! I wasn't much help with all the posts!!

Anyone know about this Busse Woods? Once we get in there are we going to be able to find everyone, or is it a maze? If its a maze, you early birds need to post up signs from the entrance to the location please. :-p hehe

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 10:16 AM

Yeah i'm sure its like all parks. Multiple sections, all spread out across one big circle.

Alex, you already know how our "stoney creek park meets" work...20+ cars racing around the park looking for the right entrance.

GTgoddess 03-29-2006 10:18 AM

Well, I get this feeling I might be leading our pack of cars, so any information is helpful once we get there. haha

What woodwork and what people? Where is everone gonna be going? I am not sure I can find this place. LOL

GTgoddess 03-29-2006 10:32 AM

haha read the first post :) It has a map and all the details ;)

SilverEcstasy 03-29-2006 10:32 AM

Why don't we all just meet at the hotel first? Then go to the park? I dunno, just an idea.

There will still be a couple parts that suck on 294. Theyre doin that open road tolling still and if you dont have an Ipasss (positive you dont) then it narrows down to 1 lane for about a 1/4 mile. Shouldnt be too bad.

Also, if youre taking I80E to 294 N...Be prepared for delays right before you hit 294. They close the left lane and people forget how to drive.

Lastly - Mike, If I show Im requesting a ride since youre driving my future car. I'd like a little preview :)

Because there are only like 10 people out of the 25-30 that will be there who are staying? No point in gathring there for an hour while they check in, if Busse is right down the road.

Metallman56 03-29-2006 10:47 AM

yeah but we can get a adress of the hotel do a mapquest, and it would bring us to the front door. can u mapquest the parking lot where were going to meet? also we then could go to the park in groups and the hotel people can check in without aj getting screwed over. infact aj and i are going to the hotel first.

laxjax13 03-29-2006 10:58 AM

ill be at the woods by 1. there are a few entrances to different parts of the park.
i havent been up there in a few months but its the entrance furthest west near the expressway.

if anything give me a call and ill come pick u guys up from the hotel :P

Metallman56 03-29-2006 11:11 AM

^^this is what i am talking about. i say we meet at the hotel decided what ent, and go over there in small groups, so that way everyone gets to the right lot, no one gets lost, ect.

kse73 03-29-2006 11:17 AM

Just make Jon get there first and wear an orange poncho. Cant miss it.

UNCTYPE-S 03-29-2006 11:19 AM

if you're coming from 290, exit higgins, make a right at the light, its the first entrance on the right.

if you're coming from 90 or the schaumburg area, make a left onto higgins, go through the light, it's the first entrance on the right.

Metallman56 03-29-2006 11:23 AM

great. well i will be at the hotel first so if anyone wants to meet there, just let either me or aj know and one of us will wait for u.
