Forum upgrade complete

Big thanks to Ryan for working on the forum upgrade tonight. We still have a few small tweaks to reactivate.

apparently there was.

I'm actually suprised it was only down for a couple hours. Just upgrading from 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 (IIRC) was somewhat of a pain for us. I just couldn't imagine going from 3.5.4 to 3.6.4 with as many hacks as you guys have.

And to answer a few peoples questions... Some of the hacks that were available for 3.5.4 aren't available for 3.6.4. Or, trying to find the upgraded hacks can be a PITA sometimes. But glad to see you guys pulled it off smoothly.

we nixed chat. Not many people used it, and it was prone to having some server side bugs.

How about a "Shout" box instead?

Yeah, I am still looking for a decent chat client for our site as well. Hmm... perhaps we can find something that both GAGT and 60V6 could use concurrently. Don't think it'd be able to have a list on the main page of who is in the chat, but might be more people involved. I know we have tried out a couple of different setups and they get used initially, and then about 1-2 weeks later, they are all but dead.

You guys can try this chat software. Its done on ASP and your forum is done on PHP. Don't know if your server allows you to run ASP and PHP at the same time

IIRC ASP no workie on our linux server. I think that requires a MS box.

cmtapanes 12-19-2006 03:40 PM

Hi Jeremy; I didn't know what server you guys run. I just sugested that chat room because my box lets me run ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, ColdFusion and I use that chat room for some of my clients.

I'll see if I can find one for linux.
