o'hare isnt that far from here (as mentioned above) but the main thing is transportation... i havent done it in a long time but I am pretty sure that you can still train hop your way up here right from the airport and one of us could pick you up from the station..

just let us know

Eh, don't matter, flights are hella cheap from here to Chicago and I rental cars are fun :driving: Not sure if I can go yet, I might have to stick near home that weekend because of some stuff we have going on in Asia :(

Ajaxus 07-11-2007 11:49 AM

Stupid Asia, lol

Btw, our growing list impresses me considering if we get some unexpected visitors not on the list we will hit half of Albany's list of cars...and also considering this took nowhere near as much planning. :D

Iowagdam 07-11-2007 06:30 PM

I am getting very excited. Man this is gonna be great! If only everything could be this easy:whistle:

lvemy3100 07-11-2007 06:41 PM

does anyone plan on doing any modding or detailing while they are here?

silvergtjrad 07-11-2007 06:47 PM

I'll mod if i can find something to put on.

lone_wolf025 07-11-2007 07:19 PM

I got some headlight covers I'd like to install.

Edit-

I just thought of another contest for bragging rights.

Best exhaust/engine sound.

lvemy3100 07-11-2007 07:28 PM

also wanted to add we are taking DONATIONS for food and drink as any would be greatly appreciated.. but not required

lone_wolf025 07-11-2007 07:41 PM

Well I said I'd bring brats and buns. Figure 17 people so 30 brats ok?

lvemy3100 07-11-2007 07:50 PM

well I also planned on supplying dogs and burgers... so we have meat covered but we will need things like paper towels or napkins, plastic silverware, paper plates, side dishes and drinks (I will be supplying some but I am sure more will be needed)

My car should be freshly clayed and buffed, but if anyone wants to get one of the led 3rd brake lights made, I can have some to bring.

Grandamgtblk99 07-12-2007 03:58 AM

well its up to you but I would only be able to offer either a full interior, full exterior or just a Wash and Vac since these would take the least amount of time and would allow us to not spend all day on just one car.. if you are really interested in this feel free to PM me so we can work out the specifics for when you are out here...

If it's easier than trying to go buy stuff myself, I'd paypal something to someone and put faith in them to get good food.

I only have one thing needing to be installed, and it'd take too long... springs/struts. lol

if no one else wants to I would be willing to do this since I have a debit card linked to my paypal account....

I guess you can either tell me what items you would like to donate and I could buy them and have you paypal the cost to me OR you could just donate whatever amount you would like and leave it up to me to decide what will be bought with your donation..

doesnt matter much to me just so long as we have everything we need in the end..

lone_wolf025 07-12-2007 09:20 AM

Do they sell the Barq's Red Creme Soda in stores up there? I know the pizza place has it at least :)

I actually am looking forward to this meet just so that I can have an excuse to buy from pizza from the antoch pizza place... looking like 2-3 Large pizzas maybe more

Ajaxus 07-12-2007 05:37 PM

well ill bring some beer for those that are 21, not a ton cause im gettin classy stuff..i guess i can also bring pop for the others, i can probably find some red cream soda if wanted.

Mike Jung 07-12-2007 06:16 PM

Does anyone have a Sam's Club membership ?
6570 Grand Ave.
Gurnee, IL 60031
1.84-miles from the La Quinta Inn Chicago-Gurnee Hotel

or Costco membership ?

I would think those places would have reasonable prices for things needed.

Edit: I forgot we are meeting at Walmart on Friday lol
I guess we always could go in there for supplies.

silvergtjrad 07-12-2007 06:45 PM

i'd be willing to paypal some money, its going to be much easier than telling 20 people to bring 20 different things.

not really much need as you can hit up the super walmart and get pretty much ANYTHING you would want/need for this meet... they even have a cookout/grilling aisle (sp?) :) (we are meeting at super walmart on friday before hitting the track)

in order to get this to go a bit smoother I think it would be best that I make an email address linked to a paypal account just for donations for the meet... I will post up the address asap and then everyone can just send as much or as little as they want... this will also help me be able to be more prepared before most everyone is here since I wont be going around trying to get money from everyone who is willing to donate...

Leave it to you to have some great questions...

I think that either the hotel or walmart parking lot would work best for meeting on sat and sun... I will leave this for the majority to decide between the 2

friday afternoon is kind of a toss up since at first I did not think there would be such a nice turn out and as a result I dont know if we will have enough room on my street to have everyone there at once BUT i think that the large amount of forest preserves will be able to make up for where to go... worst case we will hit up the lake... but NO DRINKING WILL BE ALLOWED PRIOR TO THE TRACK!!!! (only after :) )

silvergtjrad 07-12-2007 07:26 PM

Im going to meet you guys at the track on friday night. I wont be off of work till around 4ish then have to drive home, then drive about an hour and a half to gld. Trying to see if i can start early on friday to get off earlier, but im kinda new still and dont want to be too pushy about it. Saturday night I'll be there till around 6pm.

I-94 North out of Chicago

Is it worth it to take the I-94 north out of Chicago ?
Being a Toll Highway & all.
What is the toll fees along I-94 to Gurnee ?

Or take for example, a free road:
IL-21 to Gurnee.
or
US-41 to Gurnee.

lvemy3100 07-12-2007 09:29 PM

I have no clue about what is best when coming from Chicago.. maybe some of those who have made the trip in the past would be willing to chime in on this...

also FYI- the email for donations is.... donations@mpracing.org PAYPAL ONLY!!!

feel free to donate what you wish and if you want something specific to be purchased you MUST put it in the notes section or email me and let me know....

:rumor: Is there a suggested amount to donate ?
(I don't want to under-contribute.)

Example: Like the last BBQ gathering I went to, that was held by friends (& friends of friends).
We all chipped in $10; & it was BYOB (Bring your own booze).
We had lots of food, & take home bags afterwards :D

& is there a deadline to donate ?

PS: How many days are we BBQ'ing ?

lone_wolf025 07-12-2007 09:57 PM

AJ if you find some pick up a couple big cases. I'll square with you later. Mark, if you can't find the Barq's don't worry about it, but if you do that'd be awesome...just don't go way out of your way looking for it.

Edit-

I think we should start a list for the competitions. If you're looking to compete put your name down for whatever category you want.

I'll repost the previous list

Ok we'll settle on just the biggies for rewards and stuff. The rest will just be for bragging rights.

If you're planning to be in a competition post up. To make things fair, you can enter in two of the "majors" and as many of the "bragging rights" as you want.

Major (For rewards)

"Cleanest" Car (clean in appearance or just not dirty)
Best Sound System (we could go for volume or quality or both)
Best Overall Car
Best Show Mods
Fastest Car ( probably good for track competition)

Bragging rights

Cleanest Engine bay
Biggest bug on your windshield
Longest Burnout
Smooth as a baby's butt (could be a sub category for best paint)
Best Rims
Best interior mods
Best bad odor
Slowest Car
Dirtiest Car

All winners will have the option of having their pictures taken with their cars individually and/or as a group.

lone_wolf025 07-12-2007 10:06 PM

And I say we adopt these standards for rules or at least basis of rules.

Thanks to Iowagdam for the setup.

Judges
- 3 people that are not registered in the class that they are judging in.
- Must have high credit (senior member)
- Cannot be bribed with anything (food, drink, money) [But but but!!! I wanted to make some money off this! :D]
- Must be randomly choosen from a hat at least 5 minutes before judging time
- Judging is a optional, if your choosen and don't want to judge please choose someone that can fill your spot

Big Contest
"Cleanest" Car (clean in appearance or just not dirty)
- Thou must have at least washed or waxed or polished there car
- Thou must not have the following on, or in your paint;
-dirt, mud, dust, bugs, tar, stains, rubber, etc.
- Five minutes before judging, hands and any other cleaning device is off the car

Best Sound System

- Contestants will play 3 tracks that are picked out by the judges beforehand
- These 3 tracks will test the three parts of the car's audio- the tweeters, the mids and the subs.
- For pure sound competition, 1 track will be picked out beforehand and played by the judge.
- Five minutes before competition, owners must stop tweeking.

Best Overall Car
- This is up for grabs, it could be a group vote, or it could be a 3 judges vote. [I say we do both seeing as this is the biggest one. Figure the judges determine top 2 and group makes the final call]
- Criteria for best overall car would be looks, performance, sound system and presentation.

Best Show Mods
- Mods must be done before judging and must be organized into the following groups, All SHOW, ALL GO, and Highest quality

Fastest Car
-Again, up for grabs. Could be an "overall" fast car or a bracket competition.

Bragging rights
[I say we do group majority rules. We got enough people that we could just yell or sneer. It'd be more fun than a show of hands.]

Cleanest Engine bay
- You have to eat off the top of your engine [figuratively speaking I hope!]

Biggest bug on your windshield
- Must verify size, squash pattern and damage [someone got a machinist's ruler with 1/64" increments? :D]

Longest Burnout
- Who want's to get new tires?

Smooth as a baby's butt
- By running your finger along the car (not recommended for cleanest car contest)

Best Rims
- Based on style, look, bling bling, and proportions (no friggin 30"s) [I should hope no one would try to put 30s on a GA]

Best interior mods
- Based on style, bling bling, and technological factors

Best bad odor
- Smell test of seats, matts and trunk [or just overall smell of interior, whatever's most potent]

Slowest Car
- Slowest one at the track

Dirtiest Car
- Well, you know.

Take your pick, doesn't matter to me. I figure the bigger the range on mine tho (not compensating) the better chance I'll have of hooking up with possibly the michigan caravan or maybe the southern chicago guys if any of them will be carrying.

No, see that would make sense, and we can't have things making sense at the airp.... Oh wait this isn't the airport....nevermind....

Oh and if they have em (the soda) just get two of whatever they got.

I'll bring a couple cases of "Mountain Breeze" lol
