Why wouldnt he just put the car in neutral and shut it off?

Actually he did do just that, but when your car suddenly accelerates for now reason, you don't think straight initially..but he did get it slowed down, checked under the hood and made the connection of what had happened.

(I don't want to under-contribute.)

Example: Like the last BBQ gathering I went to, that was held by friends (& friends of friends).
We all chipped in $10; & it was BYOB (Bring your own booze).
We had lots of food, & take home bags afterwards :D

& is there a deadline to donate ?

PS: How many days are we BBQ'ing ?

I think that if we could get everyone to chip in 5-10 a piece we should have a real decent setup going... that's not to say more isnt better but for the sake of those not wanting to undercontribute I would say $3 minimum should be good if EVERYONE chips in and it is BYOB...

there is no real deadline but figure the sooner I have the money the more prepared I can be prior to everyone arriving and the smoother things will go in the end...

whats the exact address of the pizza place?

My car's been acting funny. TB keeps gettign stuck open ;crap hopefully iget it fixed by track time.

we wont be at the pizza place but rather we are just having pizza from there on friday before the track... we will most likely be at the lake or at a very local forest preserve taking pics of our cars or doing anything else to kill time while waiting for others to join us to go to the track....

Being a Toll Highway & all.
What is the toll fees along I-94 to Gurnee ?

Or take for example, a free road:
IL-21 to Gurnee.
or
US-41 to Gurnee.

considering Friday's, and chicago Friday traffic, it would only be a good idea to take I-94 before rush hour. Afternoon, would be a pain. It'll be jam packed starting at about 2-3pm i would bet.

CaptRon 07-13-2007 11:07 AM

Hey Mark, I will try to meet up with you guys on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks Labrat for the 411.

5-lO 07-14-2007 01:33 AM

Mark, how much do you charge for a full detail? I may have you do it prior to the event.

I think I may be in for the burnout contest (gotta use up the rest of the tread on the ****ty winter tires) depending on when it is, too lazy to go back and check haha.

5-lO 07-14-2007 01:35 AM

Oh snap. Just realized it's my friends 21st on Saturday. Ill be way drunk in the city. So Im only in for Sunday :( hopefully people will still be around...

Matt you are still welcome to crash, pm/call me to set that up

Malibu Glow 07-14-2007 02:00 AM

Well somehow I'm gonna have to meet you on Saturday morning Mark, since I won't be able to come up for friday evening. Oh there's gonna be a burnout contest, what this is gonna be done at the strip???

Damn, oh well I knew I'd miss out on something.

I have a 50% off special going for members of this site... $125 for a full detail (normally $250), Exterior Only-$72.50 (normally $145), and Interior Only-$65(normally $130)

Ajaxus 07-14-2007 02:12 PM

Well I might be bringin my crew up, but I'll be the only GA, the other car coming is an old Towncar..he'll be burning some rubber for fun, not in any contests since it isn't a GA. I'll have them bounce me some cash for food so I can make a larger donation Mark.

Yummy, Goat Roti, Jerk Chicken, Jamaican Beef Patties & Fish Patties, Chinese-Caribbean Fried R1ce

PS: Who here likes 'Rotis' ?

lvemy3100 07-14-2007 04:57 PM

only thing I know of for sure is a Chinese Buffet :)

Mike Jung 07-14-2007 05:28 PM

Oh, well :(

I got all excited when I read, they were having on "Thursday night features Mr. Myers Caribbean Rock" lol

DrFabulous 07-14-2007 05:36 PM

Mark, I just sent you some for the food fund.

Now I'm too damn lazy to read through everything- are you able to do a tune for me while I'm out there at all?

So will there side dishes at the BBQ ?
Like: Potato & Macaroni salad, etc...

& should we bring anything ourselves (food wise) ?
I was thinking about stopping at a grocery store for some pop:
Coca-Cola Zero & Sprite Zero
(Sugar-free pop for those who are watching their sugar in-take.)

well I know for sure potato salad... and now that you mention it I am sure I can get some macaroni salad... I am sure everyone else will chime in with other things they would like to see there for all to enjoy (at least I hope they do)

I will for sure have an assortment of pop and probably some MGD for the beer drinkers.. I myself will have a bottle of something to share at the bonfire (probably smirnoff) as I dont drink beer.

as for bringing stuff yourselves.. feel free to bring what you want

if there are any locals that can bring spare coolers just in case I would appreciate it as I dont currently own ANY and will be buying 2-3 foam coolers and hoping that will be enough...

also I want everyone to remember WE ARE NOT LEAVING A MESS AT THE LAKE OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!

I really wish I could say otherwise but the answer is still no on a 4cyl tune... that will be changing one way or another sometime in the very near future... and trust me you and my sponsored 4cyl car (lab rat) will be the first ones to know

Ajaxus 07-14-2007 08:13 PM

I'll probably be bringing a couple foam coolers with ice and the drinks I'm bringing already in them.

Right now it's looking like the following from me:

2-3 6 packs of local microbrewed beer (maybe more if there's interest)
1 case of Coors Light (only Light beer I will touch)
2 12pks of Barqs Red Cream Soda

A couple foam coolers and ice.

lvemy3100 07-14-2007 08:22 PM

remember drinking will be done on both of the first days more than likely so if you are bringing something special TRY to conserve it so you dont run out the first night thus making you pissed off the next afternoon/night ;)

Ajaxus 07-14-2007 09:12 PM

don't worry, I studied conservation in school..every wednesday, friday, and saturday night.. ;)

lvemy3100 07-14-2007 09:54 PM

hmm coulda sworn someone (Mike Jung iirc) posted something after me and before AJ but now its not there???

oh well... this should be goodtimes considering how little planning has gone into this... not to mention how unorganized (sp?) we are yet we have kept it together and got quite a few people to decide to come out here that previously werent considering it :)

my two food groups have already been discussed...food for the grill, and sweet sweet beer for my stomach. i never touch salads or anything when im grilling, lol

but for the others..i think potato and macaroni salad, and some chips in addition to everything else would do just fine.

Not that there is anything wrong with that :slim ;) lol

PS: I will be the idiot wearing the Toronto Maple Leafs (or a Hockey Hall of Frame) ball cap ;)
I just bought some Toronto Maple Leaf ball caps lol
National Sports had them at, 'Buy 1, & get the 2nd at 50% off'.
My buddy in Chicago is a Leafs fan. So I bought him one too.

I already have disposable plates and silverware on the shopping list so if you could just take that money and apply it toward the food/supplies fund that would be awesome... you CAN donate when you get here but I would prefer to have the money sent to my paypal for 2 reasons... 1. I will be more prepared before people start showing up and so I will be able to help with even more 2. I have a Paypal debit card that lets me buy anything I need using money in my paypal account and I dont have to wait for it to transfer to the bank first...

as for your grilles and headlights.. no problem we should have those installed for you in no time if you do end up picking them up for the meet

Malibu Glow 07-15-2007 08:50 AM

How about baked beans with the rest of the food?
I'll bring up something with me.
