If nothing else, Mark.... when we are all there, and someone wants something different- we can go get it. Not like we're going to be miles away from a grocery store lol

Iowagdam 07-15-2007 09:44 AM

Done and Done! The grills will be coming wed. and I am still deciding on which headlamps I want to go with.

GM-$179 per headlamp (ripoff)
Ebay-$120 for a set.

Regarding: Tunes/Music for the BBQ/hanging-out

I think we should have someone bring a good sounding "Boombox"; maybe with a input option for like Ipods/MP3 players & such.

I would be cheaper & better for the environment, than running someone's car all night or afternoon.
(& dumping gasoline & water into their motor oil crank case, from all that idling.)

Like when I am there.
I have in my trunk: a 18amp-hour 12V DC battery (400CCA jump starting) pack & a 115V AC 60W power inverter that can power a Boombox.

Or someone could just crank up their stereo without running the car and when the battery dies, well I'm sure there will be enough of us there to jump start a dead car. I'll let my battery run down and I always carry a set of cables.

It is their car battery & alternator, that they will be straining.

In other words:
Unless they have a deep-cycle battery, I would not recommend it.
+ the car's alternator is NOT made for charging a dead car battery.
It is made to just to maintain it charged; & the current demands when the car is running.
You WILL kill a alternator repeatly charging a car battery that is dead.

Just playing the radio in someone's car isn't gonna work. Granted some people do have really nice sound systems it'd be better sounding to just have a radio. If possible I recommend someone bringing a battery powered radio that can play cds at an acceptable level.

Mike, your power inverter, I assume it could handle a simple cd alarm clock player that plugs into an outlet right? If that's the case I'll just bring mine.

My 12V DC to 115V AC power inverter: Plugs into a cig. lighter socket & can provide up to 60W/0.5amp of power usage.

It allows me to plug in (2-blade AC plug) a cheap radio, when I got out & wash my car in the driveway.

So if your device uses less than 60W or 0.5 amp of power, it will be fine for the small power inverter that I have.

(During the big blackout of the East Coast:
I was using my battery pack & inverter to keep a 9W florescent light on at night in my living room lol)

lone_wolf025 07-15-2007 06:13 PM

Just checked. Radio uses 15W. I think that'll work.

Uh, people may want to make their reservations if they haven't done so..I just went on La Quinta Inn's website..I'm gonna be staying at the one in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin..its only 15 miles from Antioch, but that's the closest I could get.

It's actually equal distance from Antioch as the Gurnee one. I just searched for the closest one to Antioch and then it searched for the best room (straight through La Quinta's website).

Mike Jung 07-15-2007 10:09 PM

:woowoo My GA is packed.

& I am driving down to Chicago area tomorrow !

:woot: :attention :D

Here I come, to the land of cheaper gasoline.
In Toronto: Gasoline sells for $1.022 Cdn/L (about $3.77 US per US Gallon).

silvergtjrad 07-15-2007 10:32 PM

Jung if you think gas will be much cheaper in Chitown, you are in for a surprise. I live a reasonable distance from the city and its about 337 for regular right now.

To me: $3.45 US per US Gallon (& yes, I checked on the AAA mapping program) is alot cheaper than the $3.77 US per US Gallon I pay in Toronto.
(The beginning of last week in Toronto: It was $3.92 US per US Gallon.)

PS: I can't wait to fill-up coming when coming back.
Gasoline is duty free at Ammex Duty Free in Detroit, at the Ambassador Bridge

PSS: I will be that idiot Canadian, smiling when pumping up gasoline in my GA lol

5-lO 07-15-2007 11:12 PM

Awwe, he's on the road. I'm not leaving till Friday morning. I don't care if I do get there mid-day Friday, I'm not getting up at 3 AM.

lvemy3100 07-16-2007 07:45 AM

yay!!!

GTgoddess 07-16-2007 12:27 PM

Couple of Things:

1. There is a Best Western right in Antioch down 173 from the Walmart:

350 N Highway 173, Antioch, Illinois, 60002-1835, US
Phone: 847-395-3606 Fax: 847-395-3606

Just an idea if anyone wanted to stay there.

2. The gas station that is right on the property of the Walmart we all are meeting at, is usually, give or take, 10 cents cheaper than surrounding stations. So if you plan to fill up, I'd do it there.

3. You are all more than welcome to come party at Blarney's Island. i don't know how many people have ever been out this way, but it's an amazingly great time out there. $4 mixed drinks, $5 for beer (Bud products only). It gets a bit expensive, but whats better than partying on an island!?!?! Looks like a live DJ and some 80's band will be there.

that is all =)

timka86 07-16-2007 01:10 PM

The gas station they have at the track, what's the highest octane gas they have there? Around my area the highest I see if 93, anything higher then that up at GLD?

I definitely get a better kick out of 93, but I always fill up with 89, get's more MPG's then 87.

lvemy3100 07-16-2007 01:23 PM

Tim the track gas is way too high of octane for your motor.. just stick with getting the best pump gas you can find ;)

I'm just curious, i understand they have race gas... I'm just curious.
I'm hoping to win the Fastest Car contest. ;)

Is there anyone coming with a blower?

Ajaxus 07-16-2007 01:41 PM

I'm sitting here laughing my ass off like an idiot because Mike Jung just texted me from his new cell phone. lol

Oh yeh, if anybody wants a place to crash on either night, you can crash in my hotel room..I'll charge only your fraction of however many nights you stay..So say you stay one night, 5 people crash total: $120/5=$24 is all you owe. That's how I'm going to do it, very simple and straight forward. Cash only. ;)

FYI, it is a smoking room, I have no issue as I've lived with smokers for the past few months. :(

Is that the guy with the blue SE with the swapped 5 spd? I'm sorry I forgot his name. It'd be cool to see it. He's prolly not going to be running it that day, is he?

I think the highest octane stuff they got at GLD is either 100 or 110... I'm leaning towards 110.

Edit:

Hey maybe I should've followed this girl and invited her to the meet lol

I know the pic is crappy but its the best I could get from my phone while driving.

Its hard to see but she's got a big ol' wing on the back and different tails. What's the kind with the triangular split on the main light? Its not altezza but the other kind...

DrFabulous 07-16-2007 02:41 PM

Fockers, no one has texted me anything. WTF.

Gizm0815 07-16-2007 03:54 PM

last time i ran against craig he just got the blower on i think he had a best time of like 15.2 but that was a few months ago and im sure he could get better but the clutch was taking a beating and he didnt want to push it. i cant wait till friday night dont know when im going to clean the car do and oil change or rotate the tires before the track but im gunna have to find time. cant wait to see everybody. and btw matt if you me and jon all go we might have to represent no dice racing. lol

laxjax13 07-16-2007 04:33 PM

Anyone need any stock GA parts? ive got a garage full of parts that i need to sell and if i can just bring them with it would be easier then sending all this stuff out.

ive got the LIM, valve covers, fuel rails, injectors, the block itself, exhaust manifolds, some ram air pieces, radio trim. im sure there's more

kse73 07-16-2007 04:51 PM

Not sure if I can make it out to the track but Im gonna try. Havent had a chance to run the goat at the track at all and I'd like to before I do any more modding.

I was gonna show up saturday to visit, but now I have to work a detail on Saturday morning. Frickin Gun Return. Bring in your handguns and we'll give you a $50 gift card. I'll be sure to wear my bulletproof vest fo sho.

lvemy3100 07-16-2007 08:15 PM

I would like to thank those of you who have donated to the food and supply fund so far.. I hope others will follow your example ;)

FYI- all donations should be sent via Paypal to donations@mpracing.org

lone_wolf025 07-16-2007 08:19 PM

Everyone donate! It'll make things flow a lot better and its the right thing to do!

lvemy3100 07-16-2007 09:19 PM
