5 donations now.
Im not sure im going to make it to the track night anymore :/ Thats the one thing Id like to do the most, but with getting out of work at 430 driving an hour home then 70 miles to GLD, its not looking good. Especially with traffic on a Friday night and being on 294/94 Unless I can get out early it probably wont happen. I'll be there all day on saturday though for sure. Looking forward to seeing you guys.

lone_wolf025 07-16-2007 10:23 PM

Make whatever you can. Your company will be appreciated regardless.

umm we are still at 4 donations...

in any case like Jon said your company is appreciated regardless of how much time you are able to spend out here.

Lab Rat 07-17-2007 06:33 AM

Haven't posted in this thread for a while now. I plan on being around all or most of the weekend.

I prolly should not drag but I am not gonna be the only spectater so I may jump in. I should have the same times since I have not added any go fast goodies lately (well besides new plugs).

Mark, I will try to find someone with a paypal account to donate to the fund but if not I will donate when I see you. Hope that works out OK.

Really looking forward to seeing all you folks and having a great time at the meet.

I'm driving out from Oak Park, just as far as you, you got some heavy mods, i'd like to see what you would run.

DrFabulous 07-17-2007 07:42 AM

The only reason I would run at the track is because I have a legit chance at slowest car ;crap

Mike Jung 07-17-2007 12:05 PM

I am in the Glenview, IL now (tenatively) until Tuesday, July 24.

& won't have access to the internet much (or this board).

If anyone would like to reach me:
You can, by my US prepaid cell (only while I am in the US):
+1-224-xxx-xxxx.

Please no spam/junk text messages; as it costs me $0.05 US to receive them.

What is up with that ?
Rogers in Canada (& everyone else) doesn't charge for received text messages (it is not like you can say no to them); just to send them.

PS: When I cross the border into Canada, it will be turned off (but the account/# still active for my next trip to the US; unless I change to a new # in my local destination's area code).
When I am back into Canada, my normal Roger's cell will be turned back on.

lvemy3100 07-17-2007 12:06 PM

damn mike.. you drive fast!

So I forgot to say who it was from; & not spam or a wrong #.

It is not like I ever use text messages, when I am at home.
I would just call the person.

PS AJ:
I tried calling your cell (which was off/out of range at 11am CDT yesterday), when I was at the Cdn Duty Free Shop.
They had Canadian Coors Light beer for $21 Cdn / about $19.64 US for a case of 24-cans (or a special if you you bought 3-cases)
IIRC, you were going to bring US Coors Light.
(Example:
Seth/Iceman: Would only drink Cdn Coors Light, & not US Coors Light.
Because Cdn version tastes better, so I hear from people.)
I just thought that you might of liked some.

But that is too late now.

No not really.

But my friend called my cell, when I was on Highway 401; & said the same thing.
As I was almost in Windsor, ON, when he called lol
I only took it up to 160km/h / 99 mph once ;)
I didn't realize it when I floored it to pass some trucks; when one of the trucks also wanted to pass, when I was almost beside them.
Besides I am old, & drive like a old person now ;) lol

I got in to Glenview, IL last night around 9pm CDT.

Soon as I crossed the US border, it was me in the right lane with the trucks.
Cruise control set to the speed limits.

From my local gasoline station in Toronto to Dempster & I-94 gasoline station: it was 847.7 km / 526.7 miles.
Used 17.257 US Gallons (65.324 L) of gasoline.
Got 30.5 US mpg, 13 km/L, or 7.7L of gasoline used for every 100 km driven.
(Would of gotten better, but turned on the AC when I was driving through the US. From all the humidity.
Plus I would of gotten better gasoline mileage, if half my trunk wasn't loaded with Sleeman beer ;) )

Spent an hour & a half or so in Detroit getting my prepaid cell phone.
[& setting-up my unlocked GSM cell that I use normally (it has all my #'s in it already).]
& then a couple hours latter, calling in to change to a local # for Glenview, IL.
& chatting to people back at home (delaying my lunch break until 4pm EDT lol

PS: My Bridgestone Potenza RE950 HATE cement highways !
(The trend pattern makes a lot of noise.)
I am glad Toronto area uses asphalt on their roads.

Lab Rat 07-17-2007 12:57 PM

Welcome to the US. See ya on Friday.

Ajaxus 07-17-2007 02:25 PM

Yeh, my phone isn't showing missed calls. I'm used to the taste of US Coors Light..it's the only light beer I can drink in excessive quantities without hurling, lol (Ill be avoiding drinking excessively even at the hotel tho).

Umm, got these cobras and I was thinking we could just keep it simple and go with channel 1 without encryption?

If I can make it out there, I'll throw down for all the planning and just to help out some GAGT'ers. If I can't make it, you're on your own....suckers.

Also make sure you arent wearing a sleeveless shirt. I'll be bringing a helmet as well if i make it up there ;)

kse73 07-17-2007 09:52 PM

How fast does the car need to be to warrant a helmet there?

silvergtjrad 07-17-2007 10:01 PM

13.99 or quicker

laxjax13 07-18-2007 03:37 PM

Anyone want to cruise together? me and boost are leavign around noon.

I wont be running at the track though my car isnt shifting right...
When under medium-full load shifting from 1st - 2nd and 2nd to 3rd the RPMs redline but the car doesnt have any power.

any ideas?? I got the codes read and im still getting a leak in the evap system someplace. and would that cause the weird shifting?

by "doesnt have any power" I assume you mean power to shift?? if so probably the solenoids (sp?) or need new pistons (highly recomend billet upgrades @ ~$45+shipping)... there are other possible things that can cause this but I would say those are the most common... I would check fluid level as well as fluid wear and how dirty your trans filter is...

laxjax13 07-18-2007 04:35 PM

It has power, it just lags for about 4 seconds before shifting. At normal driving speeds and rpms its fine.
Trans was flushed, and cleaned last summer, and it was filled up about a month ago.
Mark, do u think scanning it will help track down the problem?

Iowagdam 07-18-2007 08:43 PM

Got the Grills!!!! thanks to boost21 I'll be able to get the new headlights tomorrow
:boogie::cheers::jackson

yea but I am sure it will show what killians trans was showing cause it sounds exactly the same... he ended up just rebuilding the trans iirc... speaking of killian wtf happend to him? in any case the solenoids were upgraded in the newer years of the 4t45e as the older ones basically caused what is happening to you...

just let off the pedal slightly at the shift and it should complete the shift.. I would advise not diving hard unless you absolutely have to...

I will scan it when you are up here for free (not a track run)....

Let me know where you guys are meeting up. I'll head out with ya.

Edit

You still got my number?

laxjax13 07-18-2007 10:15 PM

Yea thanks Mark, if i let off the gas right before it shifts then yea it shifts fine.
I messaged killians he never got back to me, maybe send him a text?

Jon does your phone # start with 269? if so then i got it.

I say we meet at the Dominicks on Higgins/Cumberland around noon, then we can just jump on the highway from there

Yea thats the number. Alrighty then, Higgins and Cumberland Dominick's it is.

Ajaxus 07-19-2007 12:07 AM

if you guys have any two-ways ill be on channel 1 to keep it simple..i have an 18 mile range so i should get most of you..

for the shifting prob, my searches showed that some people with the same problem saw resolution with some tuning that increased the trans pressure or something like that (im a few IPA's in for the night, lol) so consider that. fyi, i have the same problem at WOT.

DrFabulous 07-19-2007 08:56 AM

Bad new guys. I'm not going to make it.

About 2 PM yesterday at work, I get a call from our store manager that we're having an emergancy meeting or something. As I head over to her office, I see one of my colleagues getting escorted out of the building by the police. :wtf

So we sit down at the meeting, and we get told how we are now down to 3 managers for the whole store, and we are supposed to have five (one other one just was promoted last week). So, being a retail store, they need the three of us to step up and start working more days and longer hours, including more weekends.

They knew I had taken Friday-Saturday-Sunday off, but I was "asked" to consider staying and working the opening shifts all weekend. I didn't really have much of a choice- especially considering all weekend overtime is paid double.

I'm sorry everyone, I'd love to make it out there, but I really can't risk it with my job. Mark, keep the donation money for the meet. Consider it my contribution. If there is anything I can do to help with anything, let me know. And please, can we do this again sometime?? lol

Cliffs: I can't go because of some idiot got fired at work. Have a good time everyone, stay safe.

lone_wolf025 07-19-2007 09:24 AM

Wow...For double time I'd be tempted to work too. Well I'm sure we'll have another meet again sometime later. Perhaps in the fall season just before the track closes?

You can borrow my bike helmet if you wish ...

Can I get some numbers from people heading up this even to know where I am going? I cant arrive till 8 on Saturday and yeah I dont know where I need to be.

lvemy3100 07-19-2007 02:20 PM

98% of supplies are now on hand... weather looks like it should be ok tomorrow... only 5 donations recieved (hopefully that changes soon)....

looks like we should have a pretty nice meet... cant wait to see everyone this weekend...

Ajaxus 07-19-2007 02:30 PM

I gotta wash my car in a bit...even though the rain last night probably took most stuff off of it, lol

Also, due to one of the beers I bought, I will card anyone that reaches for it. This isn't weak crap and I'm not getting in trouble if one of you youngins decides to snatch some.

silvergtjrad 07-19-2007 02:34 PM

Good news. Im gonna make it to the track tomorrow! I'll be home from work around 4 and up at GLD by 6 if traffic isnt a nightmare. Is anyone bringing a jack with to the track? I dont want to drive 80 miles on my drag radials, and its a pain to change them with the little scissor jack.

Mike Jung 07-19-2007 03:02 PM

So am I correct in saying, that most of the drinking will be done on Saturday afternoon ?

Should I bring the case of 24 bottles of Sleeman beer with me on Saturday afternoon ?
Or maybe bring a 12-pack for Friday night & a 12-pack for Saturday afternoon for others to drink.

Note: I may be bringing some Sleeman beer for others to drink.
But only those of age, 21-years old & older are to help themselves to it.
You drink at your own risk; meaning I am not going to baby sit you.
