Out of curiosity, is that permanent in there or can it be removed whenever you wish?
Looks like you have a talent for that kind of stuff though. good job. |
honestly, i think everything works. the windshield banner is hit or miss, but its not too outlandish.
as far as painting the "fiberglass" work, you will be 60 years old before you have that huge piece ready for paint. if you really want to paint it, take it to a body shop and have them finish it and then paint it. something as large as that with that many contours will almost never be smooth (if done by hand) and then if you rattle can it it will look like trash. trust me, ive been there/done that. your other option is to cover it, but dont just thnk carpet. you can get a nice simulated suede or vinyl and then cover the rear 1/4 panels to match. |
lol yeah i know it will be really time consuming. I know a guy that manages a paint & such supply shop and he said he would help me. He knows how to mix the cream hardener with the body filler. but yeah that will take forever and a half and i'm not painting it myself, this guy is going to paint it too.

and unfortunately, box is permanent unless i take a chainsaw straight through the center of it.
|
That's gonna look crazy when it's finished..
|
There is a custom car audio shop, 50 miles south of me that I might go to for a quote to finish the top for me.. so we'll see how I end up planning on doing it.
|
How much does that weigh!? lol
I agree with Dave though, I'd add some other materials besides paint to break it up. Does look like it needs something around the amp too. A little lighting maybe? Or a big Pontiac arrowhead embossed in there with some red and black leather/suede. |
lol. Yeah, I know I need something just not sure what yet. :p
|
Impressive setup... Like what you've done, minus the banner on the windshield. Maybe if it was in Pontiac's font or something it might better but... Looks a bit over the top IMO. The rear seat though, love it.
|
thanks man
|
Only referencing the back seat.......Why Alpine type r's???? Looks great but its like a car with stickers all over it with nothing under the hood. Did you build that box to the specs for air volume for those subs or just for looks? A lot of work ahead but yank that alpine and buy sumthin that will perform as well as it looks. That set up will be lucky to hit 135db when you COULD be hittin way higher!
Also with the radar... It is extremely easy to mount it just under the rear view and run your wires up into the headliner down the front pillar and hard wire into the fuse panel. Clean with no wires! GL |
actually, both sealed boxes are built to spec at just under 1 cubic foot per sub. and stickers? yeah i have 1 and that's a windshield banner. I would rather spend time doing things i know how to do rather than nothing. I'm working on motor give it time. I can't do everything overnight like you

Damn wouldnt that be nice!!!!! Good Luck on Your Audio Build! and once again............................................. .................................................. .WHY ALPINE? |
lol. it's alright man and thanks.
I have all alpine. I love the sound and the subs actually hit pretty hard IMO. i know there is better, I know, but with my budget, an 800$ setup is pretty nice. |
