1998 Pontiac V6 A/T Grand AM "Custom"

I did some modifications to my car because it looked ugly to me but little did I know that it would grab a lot of attention. I always get some car in the adjacent lane being driven by some teenager or a dude in his early twenties honking their horn and wanting to race me. I like my peace and privacy so I'm selling it so I can replace it with another car that doesn't grab any attention. This is a great Christmas gift for a high school student or college kid.

I did the mods in August, 2011 so the parts are still pretty new. Here are the before/after pics to show you what I have done:

New suspension system including coil springs, rear shock absorbers, and front struts.
New radiator with dual 10" fan
Aftermarket ECU Performance Chip (Adds 10hp by adding more fuel into combustion)
New K&N Performance Filter
HID Xenon bulbs for highbeam
The rest of the new parts can be seen in the pictures
All worth around $1300

Here are the singular pictures of the car:

The blue color isn't actually light blue. It is Navy Blue. The camera's aperture at the time was wide open so it made the blue look bright in the sunlight. I will retake pictures when I have time.

The car has 170,000 miles. V6 engine with automatic transmission. Price is $1900 flat, message me if you want to buy it but you will also need an eBay account. I will create an ebay listing of it once there's a buyer interested. I am only selling it on eBay because I want to build a reputation of being a trustworthy seller of automobiles since I only have positive feedbacks from selling electronic equipment.

I've Never seen a chip for these Grand Ams before. What's it look like and where did you get it from?

exteriormekanic 12-07-2011 11:12 AM

Not surprising that the first question I get is about performance, lol.

It's a Volo Performance Chip. Search it on Google.

You really think people are trying to race you? People are making fun of you.

There is no "Performance chip" for the model car. You were duped.

G/L with sale.

exteriormekanic 12-07-2011 11:17 AM

It's not a proprietary ECU chip. It's a universal chip that just sprays a bit more fuel into the combustion chamber. The only effect I noticed from is a slight acceleration speed.

How much PAH does the spoiler add?

Thats not how you make horsepower my friend. And yes that chip is crap lol. Spraying more fuel into the combustion chamber makes your car run rich and causes more problems for your car.. If you like your car you might want remove it before something bad happens.

Bull****. Universal chips do nothing to benefit the car. You just think it worked. It was probably the down force of the wing that you felt. But no, you fell into a trap with that.

And why dual radiator fans? Stock ones work perfectly.

That's where the high-flow K&N performance filter comes to play. It lets in a bit more air for the marginal increase in fuel. It was a cheaper alternative to adding a supercharger with 600+ cc fuel injectors.

That makes no sense whatsoever.. You have a MAF/MAP to determine the volume of air coming into your engine. Adding a K&N filter may increase airflow a little, but the MAF and MAP sensors compensate for the increase... What you're doing is tricking you PCM into dumping unecessary amounts of fuel into your engine...

kudos to rocketfast123 lol

Anyways, I'm SELLING my car, not showing it off so I will not answer any more questions relating to why the things I added are there. If the buyer doesn't like it then they can just easily take it off.

rocketfast123 12-07-2011 12:04 PM

Could have gotten 2k if the car was stock.

exteriormekanic 12-07-2011 12:06 PM

I'd be surprised if that was true. I donno about everyone else but in my point of view the stock version is ugly as hell.

Stock > your idea of "custom"

H.O. Driver 12-07-2011 05:07 PM

Even if it was tastefully done you won't be able to get more than if it was completely stock.

One question though, if it was so ugly to begin with, why did you buy it? Please tell me this car was just used for a sociology experiment...
