Not my fault! Sleepy dont want ugly rust at bottom of rear quarters.

TDavis 11-05-2013 01:34 PM

I'm sure my car was rarely ever garaged in its 13 years of life and there is not a sign of rust issues, just couple pea sized spots of surface rust.

sleepyalero 11-05-2013 01:37 PM

Same here for now. But on the alero (idk if the same applies to the grand am) but this happens quite often.

See the holes? Fkkkkk that sht

The car was being repainted. Its a member on amod. But yes that rust gets nasty as you can see.

Its going to be out in the salt and snow?!

Yep, I have no choice.

The rust on my '97 GP was way worse than that. It's previous owner didn't take care of it though. Yeah, driving it in winter isn't good for it all around, but you can minimize the effects with a good coat of wax and regular washing. If you leave the snow with the road salt and crap stuck on the bottom of the car all winter, yeah it's gonna rust.

sleepyalero 11-05-2013 04:10 PM

I just figured you would store that car in the winter.

But yes. I would wash it everyday lol

stewartfn18 11-05-2013 04:12 PM

and while you guys are gearing up for winter and buying snow tires, im down here buying drag radials....

[ChaosweaveR] 11-05-2013 05:06 PM

Call me nuts, but I like it with the normal hood.

stewartfn18 11-05-2013 05:11 PM

youre nuts

bricooper78 11-05-2013 05:14 PM

I like that "slick" look with the flat hood too.

I actually posted that like an hour ago, but it didn't show up... what da fauq???

That is a problem with N-body coupes. Sedans don't have to worry about that as much.

Plus us Northerners just goto places like this http://www.krownny.com/index.html and I don't need to worry about rust.

sleepyalero 11-05-2013 07:30 PM

You would be suprised. It happens on the sedan alot as well.

Closest krown place to me is just over ohio border.

At some point I will do it. But if there is rust already would covering it up be okay or would you have to eliminate the rust you have before hand?

bricooper78 11-05-2013 07:36 PM

also lost from my earlier non-post, the sedan has a spot around the gas door... the coupe had the big issue back there.

schtuptid no post. haz a sadz

Pontiac_guy99 11-05-2013 07:56 PM

My car has a little surface rust about an inch forward from the rear wheel well and its driving me nuts.

yes, you would have to eliminate all the rust before coating it. Otherwise it will just spread and eat everything under the coating.

Ordered new front bumper, rear bumper molding(already got the front pieces), front arrowhead badge, spacers should be shipped today or monday, 6 MF towels, steering wheel inlay, and made a payment. Early christmas for my ass.
