As for downpipe... I have milzy no cat downpipe. It's very nice.

How long is the no cat downpipe?

So what happened with the genesis? Or am I thinking of the wrong person?

trans kept locking me out of gears and instead of fighting with the dealer to get it replaced i demodded.

so we're clear, my axle back is borla. pretty sure borla is a "real" exhaust company and the cats had to be cut out regardless because of where the collector on the headers ended, just like my 160* t stat wont let the coolant get up to proper temp and my oil wont get hot enough either. hey just fyi, i observed my coolant temp at 185 and oil temp at 200. the BLASPHAMY! are my stock digital readouts inaccurate now?

But hey, that's what happens when you take a cat out and get a crappy exhaust. I'm not even happy with my exhaust right now and I've got the SLP. I think the muffler packing is starting to deteriorate. It's plenty loud, but has too much rattle. Doesn't sound refined at all. I want to change the muffler and tips.

i thought you were all about gm did this, that and the other for reason kind of guy, no? all i did was take the mufflers off. eliminated unneeded bends... big whoop, no cats. you swear like that wouldve affected the sound THAT MUCH. lol crappy exhaust, 50 percent of it is still factory piping... are my long tubes crappy to because its not factory? lol. you may know about some things, but you are far from a god in the car world. you dont know everything, stop trying to act like you do. sry man, had to be said. again i refer to my coolant and oil temp comment as a reference

also, he does take his to the strip, so there was a performance motivation, not just noise motivation. i'm the only idiot here that runs straight pipes just for the sake of noise.

thank you!

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with the ABS or traction control on the grand am. Are they as good as more modern systems? No. They are still better than most drivers though. The real limiting factor in freezing rain is tires. You need winter tires and even then traction will be limited, but better than with all seasons. In those kind of ice conditions though, NO abs or traction/stability control system will help, no matter how advanced they are. It all comes down to tires.

Haha I actually found this one on kijiji for $640. Blown engine and needed a few suspension parts. I have about 3k into it so far.

That's funny. That isn't what you told me on facebook. You said you didn't buy a cat-back and that you just modded the stock exhaust. So what's the face you make when you are liar? So basically you are going the cheap route and doing crappy low quality mods because you don't have the money to do it right and can't just leave it stock? Ok, gotcha.

Like I said before, putting a colder t-stat in is pointless because your coolant will only get as cold as the capacity of your radiator. If it's not cold outside and your radiator is stock, it's going to run hotter than your t-stat temp DUH! That's why it's a waste of fk'ing money! Wait until you get a 30 degree day out though, then see how high your coolant and oil temps get and how long it takes the car to warm up. Like I told you before, if there was some kind of magic Focking secret to HP that putting in a colder t-stat gives ...

GM WOULD HAVE PUT ONE IN FROM THE FACTORY!!!

thank you!

Listen to young buck get all uppity now, like his sh!t don't stink and he knows what he's talking about, yet he doesn't even understand the basics of how a cooling system works. Also doesn't understand there is no reason to eliminate cats from a daily driver for some off brand sh!tty headers to fit. But hey man, you brought this on yourself. You forget I've done a lot of research into these topics, I've tried a lot of things, and I've been modding cars since you were about 10 years old. But hey what do I know. You just dumped your grand am to buy a Hyundai that you swore you were gonna keep stock, then proceeded to mod until it went to sh!t (against my advice btw), now you are doing the same thing. Have fun blowing up your perfectly good corvette.

please read how thermostats work, just because it starts to open at 160 doenst mean the car is going to run at 160, no matter when your fans come on and what kind of radiator you have. youre not telling me anything i dont know already. the point of the fvcking t stat was so that it wouldnt fvcking run at 215-230. doesnt really ever get to 30* here, so that point is moot. how quickly you forget. old age is a b1tch aint it...did it ever cross your mind that they put in the t stat that they did for emissions reasons? not because it makes the most power?

lol. pot meet kettle. youve got the "im older than you and ive been doing this longer so i automatically know more" syndrome. off brand headers? lol, dougs has been around since the 60's and do multiple headers for multiple cars. just because its not kooks or arh, or lg, its off brand? ok. and here, in florida, theres no reason to keep the cats either, so again i say, moot point

2000 GT Coupe 12-21-2013 11:13 PM

**** I have not had a t stat in the grand am since I moved to florida, temp gauge reads a steady 195-202 it takes maybe 2 miles to heat up to 180. In these "cold" winter months. And I have the fans set to kick on at 180.

If I had to guess length.... maybe 1 ft to ft and a half.. somewhere around there... it connects to the pacesetter "down pipe" then runs to cat back exhaust.

And TANNER did you miss my last post on previous page????

when you do feel like cleaning them, simple green or another industrial cleaner/degreaser should do it. i've even used brasso. and i use 000 very fine steel wool to clean the barrel of the wheels. you won't believe how easy they clean up.

so that sweet saab you've got... you found with a blown engine, and fixed it up? for 3k? :applause: that's... i'm speachless. i'm going on kijiji right now! lol

EDIT; is kijiji ebay? i've never tried it before and that's all that pops up. ebay "classifieds"

Please learn English. Then tell me what you think "stock cat-back with no mufflers" means.

And if you went to school full time, where's your degree? Oh that's right... you were working part time at Michaels and living with your mom, then you moved out into a ****ty apartment working full time at a tire store, and aren't going to school any more.

God, you don't even listen. Are you that dense? Do you REALLY think you understand more about how a t-stat works than me? Yes, I know when they begin to open and close. I'll repeat it for you in big letters this time... IT DOESN'T MATTER. If you don't have enough cooling capacity and your fans don't kick on that low, it won't get that cold, so it's a stupid mod. If you didn't want it running at 215+ all you had to do was have the computer programmed to kick on the fans at 195-200 where the stock t-stat opens. There are more reasons than one that GM designs their engine to run at a certain temp as well. Emissions is just part of it, and if you knew a focking thing about engines, you'd know that emissions are affected by combustion temps as well as other things which are tied to engine temp.

And I know how cold it does and doesn't get in FL. I lived there longer than you. :hay::asshat

They aren't a reputable brand I've ever heard of like Kooks, LG, etc. Still, it doesn't matter. You are still modding it like a broke 16 year old would, IE with no knowledge, fore thought, or logic. You're gonna be the next zuki of gagt.com. This is why a 25 y.o. shouldn't have a sports car.
