but what about the glass. please tel me you taped off the glass unless you want to spend hours with a razor blade scraping the over spray off.

the tape job itself isn't bad but over spray is a bitch.

gudge 02-28-2014 04:16 PM

He used plasti-dip. The can is on the top of the car. The plasti-dip should just peel or rub off

Not tryna be a ****, but it looks like you're spraying way too close. Hold the can about a good 8 inches away from what you're spraying. The final result will be much smoother!

plasti-dip or not it would save time in the end. it would take far less time to lay some paper down than to sit there and remove the over spray from that stuff.

Pontiac_guy99 02-28-2014 05:48 PM

Thanks for the tips guys. I am re-taping it now. And I will hold the can back a ways.

agreed. it bubbles and looks ugly if you put it on too thick. a hair dryer will dry pdip in a matter of seconds, so you can give it the 2nd, 3rd coat in no time. when the can is nearly empty, let the hair dryer warm the bottle up for a minute, and you get the last bit out of it.

HEY SLEEPY!!! try it, and if u no like, it peels off like a glove

Thanks for not being sarcastic lol. I'm going to try the hair dryer thing - my neck got a sitch in it, so I want to be done as fast as possible.

Looks good with horrible picture quality.

99ga 02-28-2014 09:21 PM

I would be so pissed if that comes off while hand-washing the car, when i do it, im doing it with a sharpie lol jk, with real black paint,

AaronGTR 02-28-2014 10:32 PM

You cleaned the trim before spraying it right? Hopefully with some alcohol or similar. As long as you did, it should stay on pretty good. And yeah, I usually put at least two rows of tape along stuff I am spraying. Sometimes more, or mask the rest off with paper or plastic sheeting depending on what I am spraying. Hold can 6-8" away and make multiple passes and light to medium coats. Almost always get decent results that way. :)

sleepyalero 03-01-2014 01:06 AM

It doesnt look to bad. If I were to do it I think I would use real paint honestly. But idk if I want to. The bad part about my car is its really glossy shiny black paint. That p dip is a flat black like color and sticks out like a sore thumb.

03GT SilverGun 03-01-2014 07:33 AM

They make a gloss you can spray on top of the black.. But I know what you mean it probably still wouldn't match perfectly.
