Not to mention the good power and torque for a small light car, and good MPG. Every reviewer I've watched loved the car.

They have got good reviews, but they are still a lot less powerful than the focus st. A lot smaller too. I don't care how good a car it is, I couldn't live with a car that small.

[ChaosweaveR] 01-18-2014 08:21 AM

I'll take a Focus ST anyday over a Fiesta ST.

I got to drive a Focus ST for a day before...sooooooo much fun to drive. The surprising thing, minimal torque steer with all that power. They're making 265HP, IIRC. The six speed felt super nice too, even while power shifting, hehe.

One day I will probally getting 20% and (MAYBE a 6 inch strip along the front windshield) because my drive to work I'm facing into the sun. Also if done right I think some look good but I'm not sure yet. Some new headlights are also in order cause mine are getting fogged over again.

I put a strip of black vinyl on mine 7 inches down and cut it to match the curve of the top of windsheild IMO that looks best.

and heres the effect you get if leaving the bottom edge straight and then putting it on. this is a random pic I found searching google

Finally checking in with a pic

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...CFFEE11DF3.jpg

Honestly the car needs some work, obviously my rust post, but also a few scuffs here and there, nothing a professional buffer can't take out, and I need a new front bumper, clear coats got a few imperfections and the crack I mentioned.

[ChaosweaveR] 01-18-2014 09:35 AM

Geez, I could have swapped my dual post mirrors for ya when I still had mine.

gudge 01-18-2014 09:42 AM

Those side mirrors have to go as well. Need dual post. They are pretty cheap on amazon. Like $25 each

Edit: chaos beat me to it

Sadly the European model has all the goodies, Mountune has a tune for the Fiesta over in Europe and it boosts the HP from 197 to 297 and the torque from 203 to 300 or something along those lines, no exaggeration.

Someone tested a stock Fiesta ST on the dyno and it made 215HP and 225 ft/lbs. Made more then advertised which is 197/203. Of course its going to be less powerful then the Focus, its the little brother but the weight will overcome that.

The Mountune tune for the US car would knock it to 212HP and 236ft/lbs, which since the stock Fiesta makes more then advertised I'd say that would make it around 230HP and 246ft/lbs.

The Focus ST is making 252HP. Test drive a Fiesta ST and I guarantee you'll reconsider a Fiesta. Way better steering feel, six speed in the Fiesta feels just as nice too.

Also to be fair on the Focus side, don't get me wrong I like the Focus but when the Fiesta is so cheap its hard to pass up that kind of power to such a lower price, The Focus with the Mountune tune makes around 278HP and 304ft/lbs.

The amazon ones I was looking at have a glossy black finish according to a review I read and the picture. That mean they wouldn't need to be painted since his car is black. Maybe I'm wrong and let me know if I am since I need to replace my mirrors and didn't plan on having to paint them.

Slapped these on as well, yeah about the mirrors, it's on my list xD I think someone's selling a set here as well thinking about it, I should throw him an offer

Black&Red01 01-18-2014 10:43 AM

I bought some mirrors off of amazon and they were gloss black but the gloss faded away.
I would have them painted because they will look much better. And I don't think they would cost much at all to get painted.

I just pulled the full tax info on a house for sale in the area... Nothing special, just a 4 bed/2 bath, 2,200 square feet, 1/2 acre lot, built in the mid 80's.

http://photos2.zillow.com/p_f/IS13rh...0000000000.jpg

$285k. Taxes are $3,300 a year.

The property that my wife and I will eventually build a house on has taxes of... $7,500/year. Around 3 acres with 200ft of lakeshore, but still. That's almost the equivalent of making payments on an Escalade... for the rest of your life.

TL;DR it's really f'in expensive to live in the Twin Cities SW suburbs.

The focus gets great reviews for it's handling and steering feel too though, and it's not much heavier than the fiesta. And I believe it's power is under rated too.

But like I said, I just couldn't live with a car that small. I don't give a you know what about how good a deal it is. It's just too small for me. Even the focus is on the small side, but I could live with it. Every time I get in my mom's mini cooper, I think about how damn small it is inside and how overpriced it is for what you get. The grand am is really the perfect size car for me, which is why I've kept mine so long. :)

The "gloss black" is just the black plastic its made out of. Just like black&red01 said about 2 comments below.. his faded and he didnt paint them. It was the plastic that faded. They have no paint and no clear coat on them. So you have to paint them. I had to paint mine off ebay. Yet they looked painted and glossy black.

Fiesta is 550lbs lighter then the Focus. Focus' curb weight is 3250 while the Fiesta sits at 2700.

I don't think the GA is much bigger then the Focus lol, I think what you're trying to say is that you would rather have a coupe. Since coupes feel bigger on the inside because of 2 less doors.

You have it on the easy side, there are plenty of painted dual posts in black on eBay.

sleepyalero 01-18-2014 11:37 AM

Have to call it quits for today, I'll try to bust it out next weekend when I have paint and everything together.

Wow. Just wow. We have a "bonus" room (half attic is finished) and 1800 sq ft w/out basement/attic, 1/4 acre, and we got it for 60 and taxes are 1400 a year.

Holy cow. But our house was built in '03.... Nineteen 03 lol

Fiesta is 503 lbs lighter than the Focus, if you are comparing manual to manual. The Focus ST is 3223 lbs. Fiesta is 197hp/202ft/lbs advertised and Focus is 252hp/270ft/lbs advertised. That's 13.8 lbs per hp for the Fiesta and 12.7 lbs per hp for the Focus so it has a better power to weight ratio. Also the interior cargo space on the Focus is 23.8 cu/ft or 44.8 with the seats down. The Fiesta is only 10.1 and 25.4. Passenger volume on the Focus is 90.7 and the Fiesta is 85.1.

Those are some major differences and that's what I'm getting at. If you have to haul more than two people ever, or need room to bring stuff home in your car ever, the Fiesta is gonna be a real tight fight. It's a good deal for what you pay, but I'd rather pay the extra for a Focus personally and have more space and HP. I'm not even that big a guy but I don't fit as well in my moms car which is comparable in size. And yes, the grand am is definitely a bigger car. Interior volume is 107.3 cu/ft and 14.6 in the trunk, and if you put the rear seats down you can fit some pretty big stuff in it. ;)

Ya I understand, there also a factor about the Recaro seats, no matter the Fiesta or Focus people say they're a tight fit, no matter if you're "fit" or slender, like a try before you buy thing.

I wouldn't mind having either, I try to look at reviews and opinions and 95% love the Fiesta for DD and driveability wise. Motortrend has a whole comparison for the 0-60s, skid pad, figure 8s etc.
