that happened to me on the Z26 i had. was a blessing in disguise. that thing had more problems than a cat lady.. that's how i ended up with the first GA that i had for a month thanks to an old lady that rear ended it and that's how i ended up with the current GA.

mine cracked because some crap got on the threads.

I was thinking $20 plus shipping ($15-$20). I did tell sleepy he could have it awhile ago but he said he was going to hold off. If he still wants to pass up on it then it's available for you.

cool let me give my mechanic a call Monday to see how much the labor would be and ill pm you moday with a payment as well

geldartb 07-19-2014 12:56 PM

labor will probably be similar to him doing a LIM job since he basically is.. might as well have him do that while he's got the thing off.

my lim gasket is maybe two years old but I think ill have him do the thermostat and probably the head gasket if I keep the car kinda on the fence.

sleepyalero 07-19-2014 01:05 PM

He can have the LIM gudge.

Even if thr gasket was 2 hours old and on the car it would need replaced. So you need a new LIM gasket.

geldartb 07-19-2014 01:12 PM

2 years doesn't matter. i had a plastic one fail after like 10k..first plastic set i did had the metal tabs they added.. that was the set that went and ate the bearings in the process.

i'd still replace them. do you want to pay to have this job done again. a new set of fel pro gaskets is like $60 for the metal version which you will probably never have to touch again.

sleepyalero 07-19-2014 02:40 PM

geldartb 07-19-2014 02:45 PM

You have to replace them, no matter what. They are like head gaskets... NOT reusable. If they've been on the engine for a while and been heat cycled, they will not seal up properly if you left them on and tried to reinstall them. LIM gaskets must be replaced every time you service that part of the engine. It's not worth the risk of trying to reuse them and having a coolant leak anyway.

MAC the KNIFE 07-20-2014 06:49 AM

went to cars n coffee, and the g8's got THE parking spots. seriously, those are prime real estate at the show! lol

http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...ps481bd361.jpg

also, washed car friday night, drove 15 miles to the show saturday morning, rims were dusty already....
so i pulled the HPS pads off and put Hawk PC ceramics back on.

99ga 07-20-2014 01:33 PM

Looking good^
On a side note : I just dropped off the sct kit and bumper to have them painted, he's gonna take his sweet time tho so I wouldn't expect anything soon yet

TDavis 07-20-2014 02:00 PM

Which bumper are you replacing?

99ga 07-20-2014 02:35 PM

Both , but I'm only painting the front bumper ATM.

TDavis 07-20-2014 02:50 PM

Lol you are doing the same thing as me replacing both bumpers and getting the kit painted as well.

Assuming you've probably already bought the rear bumper. I got the rear bumper that has the "Pontiac" on the rear bumper shavin off, fit completely perfect too. Makes the rear look MUCH cleaner IMO and it really makes me want to shave off the trunk keyhole.

99ga 07-20-2014 03:08 PM

Yup pretty much, I like that look as a matter of fact the guys who's painting it told me the same thing, but I think it's gonna look better if I leave the lettering black to match my black/red theme.
I'm also going to replace both fenders and paint them, along with hood, spoiler and trunk lid so might as well shave off the keyhole while I'm at it...just need time, and Money.

TDavis 07-20-2014 04:19 PM

Cool, a solid black metal one would look great if you ever want to change it.

Try some of these for now, http://www.smoothlock.com/. I got a set and they can be painted to match for cheap and if your battery dies you can just peal it off and use your key. My covers actually stuck back down just fine after I had to use my key once.

This isn't a close up but it can give you an idea. Sam needs some for the T/A for sure.

This ^^^^ GM only made 2 different sized key holes forever, I am not sure if they still do but they even work on other makes and models too.

sleepyalero 07-22-2014 01:04 PM

Personally that looks a little tacky imo.

TDavis 07-22-2014 01:37 PM

Don't see how it looks tacky but the only one I would probably get is the trunk one. I never notice my door handle key holes.

The trunk one sticks out more than the door ones, but I like how the door ones look. I took a marketing class when I was living in Detroit and the guy that makes those was in it too. We got talking about cars and that is how I found them. That was almost 10 years ago now, wow.

sleepyalero 07-22-2014 04:14 PM

Idk its a sticker. Just tacky to me.

Do it right, shave it.

Luckily the alero has sunk in holes so not as noticable

Pontiac_guy99 07-22-2014 09:46 PM

No offence - but I am never going to shave/fill in the key holes. I needz thoze.

(My remote sometimes doesn't work)

TDavis 07-22-2014 10:13 PM

Shaving the trunk hole isn't an issue, if your key fob button doesn't work, just use the button on the driver door and if both of those don't work THEN you're outta luck but the odds of both of those happening isn't common, not to mention that if the button on the door doesn't work you can just replace it. Not to mention he said when you do need to use the key holes you can just take the covers off easily and reapply easily as well.

99ga 07-22-2014 10:36 PM

#inb4dontinterruptmyuploading^^^ lol jk
http://i1383.photobucket.com/albums/...smug7m4kr.jpeg just messing around with my camera. .. and resizing pictures, following pictures won't be as huge as these^
