On the contrary. I had one and it was crystal clear for 3 years. $9 at walmart.

I only have sound quality issues when I nearly max the volume

I truly considered it. For the price, even MSRP, it's great value and the car looks amazing compared to the now-dated Challenger Hellcat coming out. Here's why I won't get it:

- I drove a Challenger SRT8 (MT) and test drove a Charger SRT (auto-manual) Two things I've taken away are that the suspension on both was abysmal and the auto-manual on the SRT was lagging too much for my liking.

-The Charger still doesn't come with a MT, which is a deal breaker.

Ultimately there are other offerings with more than enough power and much better chassis/suspension to handle it in corners.

Dodge needs to man up and put a manual trans in the hellcat charger. But, im sure they will add a better performing auto in the hellcat series.

I dunno, the one I had always sounded like crap. Maybe you had a better tape deck?

Regardless, it's still not capable of reproducing CD level sound quality.

Per an engineer at Chrysler, back in 2006-2008 or whenever they were crash testing this Charger chassis, they crashed and certified the auto-gear box with the automatic floor plate only. The manual would have required a different floor plate and therefore a another separate certification and the costs to mock it up and certify it again quickly shut down that endeavor. Really sucks. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

But alas, the GT350 has been OFFICIALLY announced and I couldn't be more tickled.

Close enough to CD level that I can't tell the difference. The trick is you need the electronic ones. The ones that still use actual CD tape and need to be flipped when you get to the end are trash.

They actually had them like that? LOL

Yes. It was a cassette with tape inside similar to VHS. I haven't seen one in years. They all have an electronic tab where the tape would have been read by the player now and go for VERY cheap. The quality was good enough that I never bothered getting AUX cables that were running $120+.

AaronGTR 11-19-2014 07:41 AM

Yeah, mine was an electronic one, never seen a tape one. Sound quality still sucked, but like I said that could have been due to the stereo and stock speakers I was playing through. In a normal radio with better speakers it would probably sound better. In a higher end stereo system though, I'll bet you would notice some sound degradation. A magnetic head simply is not capable of transmitting the volume of data used to reproduce the rich sound depth you'd get from a laser disc or digital wav file. Most people wouldn't notice or care though.

Ah yea I did hear goofy stuff on the Audi's Bose System now that you mention it. The trick is to dial your volume down from max on your MP3 to about 80-85%, and then adjust the speakers via the car from there to desired. Anything above 85% on the source was a little fuzzy.

I love my aux plug in on my car. Back when i had myfirst car a 93 avalon i had the tape **** it was horrible.

Was a nice 35 today so I did the first winter wash, been over a week since its last wash which is a long time for me but I can't wash it when its below freezing or else the water would just freeze, anytime above 30 is fine for me. Paint is nice and smooth like glass after the sealant and wax even after all that dirt sitting on it for a while.

Rear sct bumper piece splitting off away from bumper above driver tail pipe.

TDavis 11-19-2014 01:39 PM

Just gotta find something wrong don't you? Its not, its the angle of the picture, thats how its been since I put it on. You don't realize how PITA the SC/T rear lip is to put on, thats how it fits, its near impossible to get it perfect not to mention even if you do it will eventually flex to what you see there from heat and cold etc.

Many people had problems with it considering it was made like 1mm smaller then the rear bumper. I was lucky enough to even get it on using the tape rather then other people who literally molded theirs on or screws them on.

I wasnt meaning it in that way, i like the pics. Just didnt know if you knew that. Nor did i know about the sct kit not being a 100% perfect fit. I saw something black in that pic, and threw it out there. Lol

Yep a fellow e46. Different car all together though, the 2.5l that's in the 323 is nothing like the m54, not to mention the brakes, the suspension, the exterior/interior, and the nice little improvements that the ZHP had. Same platform, different internals:)

Mines a 2005 so it's a facelift, your friends must be a prefacelift e46. How long has he had his car?

He doesn't own it anymore. He sold it a couple years ago and bought a range rover sport. I think he bought it in like '04 though from someone in Georgia. Was a low miles dentists car. The engine bay looked almost exactly like yours. We did put an intake on it though with a different air box. I also helped him do some HID projector headlights with the LED halos, clear/smoked corners, flat black grills, black/CF rondels, a trunk lip spoiler, LED tails, 19" M3 CSL replica wheels, and M3 CSL replica front bumper with a CF lip molded on and paint matched. It was helrot red. Looked pretty nice for a basic coupe and still got good gas mileage. The 19" wheels kept getting bent and leaking air though so he replaced them with some different 18's later. :)

His engine bay looked almost exactly like yours though, so the engines must have been similar, even if the displacements were different.

Yeah well all of BMW's inline6 engines look very simular lol

The 323 came with a m52 2.5l inline6 and the 325 came wth a better 2.5l inline6 engine, the 330 came with the m54 3.0l inline6 engine, and the 330 ZHP (what I have) came with a tuned m54 3.0l inline 6 engine, and lastly the best of the e46 (the M3) came with an S54 3.2L inline 6 engine.

I love the power band on the inline6's though, you can literally always feel the torque. Butter smooth acceleration etc. These engines are reliable I must say, my car has 152k on it and still runs like it's brand new. Maitinance is costing me quite a bit more than my grand am did but I'm really enjoying the car so I don't mind it.

AaronGTR 11-21-2014 07:53 AM

Yeah, those inline sixes are inherently very smooth engines, and have very good torque curves. He would get an occasional check engine light from a cam position sensor (we replaced it but it still gave issues every now and then), and I had to replace the T-stat housing and coolant tank on it for him. Other than that, the only stuff we had to do on it was basic maintenance... replaced spark plugs, changed trans fluid/filter and diff fluid, brake pads, etc.

The chassis and engine/trans were in really good shape still when he sold it. The only really annoying thing was the interior was coming apart. BMW had some kind of film finish over most of the interior parts like the dash, door panels, speaker grills, etc. that was all peeling off, and there were some trim pieces around the door openings that kept coming loose and falling off. The heat would make the glue fail. The fabric on the head liner was coming off too and billowing in the wind. lol

Yep I've redone 100% of my interior with new genuine parts, car looks brand new. First thing I did to the car was revamp the coolant system. It's been very reliable so far.

hadn't even started drinking yet but i figured i might as well clean out the back of my car so it doesn't look like i'm an alcoholic and i really didn't want to go shopping on friday even if it was only to the liquor store..

use to be even better before my friend moved.. he lived in the center of a small town so all we had to do is walk to the liquor store. now that was nice. go for a small walk
