And maybe you should move to another area, let alone another state? Screw IL. Lol ;) personally, anywhere other then Chicago in IL will be better then Chicago itself. Its IL's version of Detroit basically haha

do you even need to ask that question..

Pontiac_guy99 01-14-2015 05:27 PM

Good news! I talked to my local body shop (who has a "death row" with an alero 3.4) which was in a flood. I asked them for all the pieces to the air intake, and they said they did not know if they were good., but they would let me have them. I would like to know what could have maybe been ruined in the flood. My cai is causing codes and rough running, so I am gonna get rid of it.

Oil change last night.

http://i.imgur.com/vFqgZYc.jpg?1

Eight and a half months, 3500 miles. lol

Saved a small sample of the oil to be sent out, curious to see how much it broke down (Castrol Edge synthetic oil, 5W-20) and see if I can make a routine out of every eight months with low mileage. By eye, the oil really doesn't look bad, it's not sludgy, it's dark gold in color...

bricooper78 01-14-2015 06:04 PM

the engine seems to be in that car, you CLEARLY did not do a good oil change lol

sleepyalero 01-14-2015 06:14 PM

Exactly, hes doing it wrong....

99ga 01-14-2015 06:56 PM

Chaos how were you able to do an oil change without having to take off the rear wheels and closed trunk????

TruGreenGAGT 01-14-2015 09:29 PM

Pontiac_guy99 01-14-2015 10:03 PM

Ok that's all I wanted to read. :)

TruGreenGAGT 01-14-2015 10:14 PM

I have all the electrical parts from my stocker, its just the plastic pieces and filter that I am missing. I didn't know if they water would have ruined the seals or something that would have made it start sucking dirty air through a crack or something.

8 months isn't really that long. 3500 is definitely not that many miles. Miles is a more important factor for oil life than age unless you start taking about years. As long as you are driving the car semi-regularly I'm sure the oil was fine.

99ga 01-16-2015 07:52 AM

Salt is better

[ChaosweaveR] 01-16-2015 08:10 AM

It's dirty, believe me.

How the hell do you guys keep your cars so clean in the winter, you wash every day or something? Even when our car washes are open and I can get through one, my car is dirty in the next 24 hours.

lol i "washed" mine this morning. it was like 19 or something like that because even though the water was warm it froze pretty quick but i got some of the crap off. then later i went to get gas and my gas door froze shut so when i pulled the lever inside nothing happened. little flick of my knife and all was well.

i'm pretty sure it still looks like crap since some of the stuff was melting again. but in the end my main reason was to get some of the salt and sand off the car.

Wash it a ton. Twice this week. Drive slow down dirty streets. Avoid snow/water as much as possible.

and yeah kind of hard to do in the winter.. don't know about where you live but it snows a little bit here and then doesn't warm up above freezing much if at all so not much if anything melts..

and let me guess you are one of those people who slams on there brakes when they see a puddle..
