sleepyalero 03-21-2015 11:22 AM

Also anyone planning on doing a 6 speed swap good luck. The flywheels have been discontinued and it took me 2 weeks to find a new one.... Pretty sure i got the last one in the nation. Lol

A lot of people use masking tape. but hey if you like to snuggle with your motor i won't judge..

sleepyalero 03-21-2015 03:22 PM

sleepyalero 03-21-2015 03:23 PM

I used packing tape, but then threw that over to help with moisture and what not for added protection.

99ga 03-21-2015 03:59 PM

Should have thrown an lx9 while you were at it

tw0123 03-22-2015 10:37 AM

sleepyalero 03-22-2015 10:59 AM

All that time with no engine in it and you didn't detail the engine bay!

my post above applies to this too.. looks like shit so therefore you should feel like shit..

i mean damn we all know you have been in there fornicating the empty engine bay so clean the damn thing..

sleepyalero 03-22-2015 03:07 PM

Its to hard to keep it clean under the hood, with my cooling fans tuned to be on at a certain temp to keep the engine cooler, it makes it dusty as sht fast.

lone_wolf025 03-22-2015 04:10 PM

Eh we all let our engine bays go after a while. I barely drive mine to the extent I've got surface rust on some of the exposed pulleys.

sleepyalero 03-22-2015 04:34 PM

Yeah, believe me. If I could keep it as pristine as the outside i would, but those fans are just terrible for under the hood lol

AaronGTR 03-22-2015 04:57 PM

I had mine all pristine once... painted it myself and it came out really nice... after the first engine rebuild. Then on the second one where I had the shop do it, they tanked the block again and took off all the paint, and they repainted it after and did a way sh!ttier job than I did.

And now that I daily drive it, it gets a lot dirtier, and I don't have time to take it apart and clean things. Removing stuff is really the only way to get to some areas, and it's just too much work, what with my schedule.

sleepyalero 03-22-2015 06:20 PM

Yeah, i could make the engine bay spotless and it would look like the pics i posted a week later.

tipnitty 03-22-2015 07:24 PM

It is hard to keep clean, but it's your baby lol. I would just taken the hour to do it!

As meticulously maintained as the exterior stays, the underhood is...a letdown.

It *is* hard to keep DDs spotless. Too bad there isn't a beater to drive on nasty days. Oh, wait...

sleepyalero 03-22-2015 08:21 PM

Eh, the car gets driven. Its not a garage queen like people think. The engine bay is just a PITA to clean. So much sht to work around.

lol that was the point. Your engine bay was empty why not clean it. I can't wait to clean under my hood this summer.

sleepyalero 03-23-2015 05:18 AM

Well with it being winter and super cold i couldnt.

Plus by now its been since November since the motor was in it, and i was tired of waiting, so i finally got all my parts and put it in that day.
