Getting rid of the camber wear altogether won't happen, because of the way the suspension is designed though. But look at the tire size you're running! Comes with the territory. Speaking of which, what is the tire size exactly? Toyo Proxes 4 Plus might be the way to go, they have a treadwear of 540, you'd get much more life out of them compared to the cheapo brands like Nankangs.

265/30/ZR19

New tires and alignment this week by a friend's shop so should be set.

sleepyalero 06-23-2013 05:53 AM

Needs 295!

Oddball size, didn't realize you were rocking 19"s.

Ask for a printout of before and after the alignment. Make sure they aren't just doing the front, too. Ask for a "four wheel alignment". Hopefully this helps out the camber issue.

Chillin' down in Brooklyn last night. Dining on the best Italian in town.

Nothing special here. But I finally got it lowered. Not a whole lot, but enough for me, and to get rid of the 4x4 status :D

Looks sweet dude, first one I've seen lowerd and I like. Though I love the look of the SS cobalt, that wing bugs me, I think it would look good without one.

Only thing I would do different is take the damn stickers off the window.

Also do they make a dual exhaust for the cobalt? I feel that would look interesting instead of the single outlet.

I plan on buying a carbon fiber trunk, and going wingless.

But stikarz add more horsepowerz! lol

And they do make a dual exhaust. SLP makes it. It sounds good from the video they have on YouTube. I've thought about it. Still on the fence about what to do with the exhaust. The car currently has a MagnaFlow muffler welded in place of the stock one, and I like it. I'm just unsure on where to go with it once I do some power upgrades.

Nice, I like where you're going with this. Keep up the good work dude.

It'll be tricky finding wheels. 5x110 is an odd bolt pattern.

I've come to realize that 19's really are a strange size. But dubs are too big IMO on this car without a big drop and it absolutely kills the driving comfort.

lol Yeah right. These barely fit in there as is. I had spacers on the back originally and it looked great but got major rub when there were passengers in the car. 265 is pretty wide as is and I'm trying to spend LESS money on the car, not more.

I'm not talkin' about the rear window defroster guys. I'm talking about the front window defogger. When you turn the HVAC mix knob all the way to the right, that directs air through the vent on the dash to defog the windshield. It automatically turns on the A/C compressor when it does that to remove humidity from the air. You remove the A/C, then it won't work any more and won't defog the window unless you turn the heat up, which sucks. ;)

I just don't see the point in doing that on a street driven car. Makes it less useful and convenient.

[ChaosweaveR] 06-24-2013 07:28 AM

Oh, i always use the heat to defog/frost my windshield. Idk i just never use it, so why not just take it out. No matter how hot it is out, the past 3 years i just have my windows down.

.....

haha Could have saved on the window tint, too. of course bugs, mos-quitos lawn clippings and diesel-dirt just blow in one side and out the other, no harm done

sleepyalero 06-24-2013 11:26 AM

Tint has no problems. Though car does get a little dusty inside. But takes awhile.

Not very logical or mature IMO. It gets hot enough in the summer even here in MI that I can sweat through my clothes into my seats. Say I'm going somewhere that I have to dress up nice for... I don't want to arrive all sweaty. Or I get a phone call in the car that I have to take... can't hear anything or talk over the wind noise if the windows are down. Especially if on the freeway. And if my girlfriend is riding in the car with me, she doesn't always want her hair messed up or to be sweaty and uncomfortable either.

I mean, I suppose if someone is a loser with no girlfriend that always rides alone and only wears shorts and t-shirts and never dresses up for nice occasions... then it might make sense. For everyone else that's a grown up with normal priorities, it's not practical. And it will also hurt the resale value of your car.

lol oh where to start....

I dont see how taking ac out of the car is "immature". But thats your opinion. Ive gone to plenty nice occasions dressed up and windows down in the summer with no problems. 90 degrees can feel perfect to one person while it can feel really hot to another. I wear a t shirt and sweatpants pretty much year around, yes even in 90* weather.. Most phone calls i have i can still drive with windows down and hear the person fine. Even if i have a bluetooth/headset in. Girls, well they didnt HAVE to ride in my car. Ive had plenty ride in it and i tell em, "i dont use the a/c" and they dont mind. Guess i get lucky... Others if they want to complain then thats also easy, dont ride with me and everyone will be happy.

Resale value means nothing to me. The car is going to have a turbo build and will never be sold, period. Not now, not after the build, not ever.

Had to get two new tires it turns out. And looks like I need to replace all 4 shocks as well this week.

Alignment was WAYYYY off he mentioned. Was running pretty negative and beyond what normal specs were. Hopefully it helps with wear and tear as I've replaced the tires on this car SOOO many times it's getting really annoying.

Rear was probably sagging, the lower ride height causing the additional negative camber.

Good excuse to get a nice set of Konis, Bilstiens or Tokico shocks...

Word. That's what we suspected as well. The blow out was pretty entertaining though as I was only going a few miles per hour around a turn. Tire assploded loudly and was hissing out all the air—and the kid on the corner pushing his skateboard fell off after the 'pop.' I was amused. lol

Pricing out KYB's and Monroe's currently with the expectation of installing this week or early next. Was thinking of getting Eibachs while I was at it but the OEM sport springs still have a lot of life...basically should outlast the car at this rate.
