Like I said, not much progress made but did get my vinyl inserts for the bumpers...looks good and breaks up the green a little...

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...15843433_n.jpg

It currently needs a wash and a good wax but its below freezing! I wish I had a heated garage!!

[ChaosweaveR] 12-29-2012 04:51 PM

Looks clean anyway.

ya know, in the time it takes to photoshop that pic, you could mask off the rear and spray it with P-dip. and if you don't like, let the p-dip dry and peel it off. it's neat stuff.

[ChaosweaveR] 12-31-2012 09:29 AM

It kills me to see stock wheels on there.

zukiracer19 12-31-2012 03:47 PM

Wow I love that color.

RunAboveIt 01-09-2013 05:34 AM

I like the stock shiny 5 spokes like that. Yet to see one of the 05 only color charcoal gt's with those 5 spokes.

Maybe this summer, we will see. I have my hands full w the old Pontiacs

TDavis 01-26-2013 08:00 AM

I'm going to take a wild guess. You like Pontiac? :D

Gtomike72 01-26-2013 08:04 AM

Just a little... ;-)

Gtomike72 02-20-2013 09:19 AM

I finally got around to installing the emblems back on the car. They where faded a little to I mixed up some gloss black paint and sprayed these with my detail gun...

Rear end shot... I installed the back first to see if I even wanted to put them back on. Was on the fence about it but it brings a good contrast to the green so I decided to install the rest. I did the back in my garage as it was a rainy day when I did this, so not the best pic as I took it in the rain...

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...80762851_n.jpg

A few days later actually had a nice springlike day and put the rest on the car and then gave it a much needed detail since Illinois loves to coat the roads in salt...

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...26192553_n.jpg

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...71971196_n.jpg

And posing with the car...

http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...05365893_n.jpg

And the 7 year old who may have this as her car in 10 years or so...

http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...05996920_n.jpg

Still want to paint the hood scoop area and rear lower bumper gloss black and paint the spoiler body color once the temps get a little higher. Thinking too on my stock wheels to paint the outer lip body color to have the rims have a little "custom" look. Not sure if it will look good or not? Only one way to find out...

TDavis 02-20-2013 09:22 AM

You re-badged it. Fail!

I see you need front splash guards. Paint that spoiler PLEASE

BTW where did you get that black trim molding that goes around the whole car when you repainted?

Spoiler will be painted as soon as temps warm up. I have the paint ready to go when it does. I hate it too but I hate the stock spoiler even more to bolt it back on.

Front splash guards? You mean the inner wheel wells? I took them out when I painted the car. Still need to install them. Gotta grab the little push pins. Ive been a slave to my job the past month and didnt have a day off so Im now off for two weeks so may get some final touches touched up.

The black trim I just bought like 3 rear bumper trim pieces and used my old ones as templetes and cut them down. The side pieces arent available anywhere I saw. The front and rear bumpers are.

AleroB888 02-20-2013 09:30 AM

Looks great! Don't change it

Gtomike72 02-20-2013 09:51 AM

Just replaced my faded water filled reverse lights with brand new ones. Forgive the filthy car as its still below freezing so cant wash it other than spraying the salt off...

http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...82459990_n.jpg

I may experiment with the old ones and tint them to see if they would look good blacked out. If not, dumpster time for them! Also I need to get that SLP exhaust installed with the GTO tips...my stock tips hang low on the passenger side. It may just need a shorter exhaust hanger but if its getting replaced who cares right?

Thanks! There are a few little changes I want to make, nothing major but should look good when Im done. Eventually I do want to look into a new drivetrain setup as this one is getting up there. 166k now although the engine was replaced around 120k.

[ChaosweaveR] 02-20-2013 12:52 PM

Ew, badges...

bricooper78 02-20-2013 06:50 PM

Dude, that is a very solid looking car, nice work man. I like it with the wing black, it works fine with it being dark colored.... and we can start a black wing Alliance too lol

kzulfic 02-20-2013 07:06 PM

Haha, black wings unite!

I like it black too, paint the scoops/blisters on the hood and she'll look really nice.

BTW Mike, you ever get that dash?

jaketuff 02-20-2013 10:40 PM

My dear Gent...

Excellent WORK!!! :applause:

It's awesome to see what a little patience, focus and thought can result in - in a large backyard!!! Wish I had room to rock a paint 'booth' or a yard to spray in!!!!

Also - the paint, it's cool cuz it's different and cooler because when you get those LeMans/GTOs? done (same green) you can rock old school new school at the next car show!!!

Thank you sir!! Spring is slowly coming around so I can get a little more work done on the car. Just been daily driving it and washing it 24/7 it seems like

GrandAmMe 03-21-2013 01:11 PM

Excellent work!

TDavis 03-27-2013 09:28 AM

Yo Mike, I'm going to ask this ahead of time just so I know because I might be completely replacing my front and rear bumper.

Questions are, where did you find the black rubber molding trim that goes on the bumpers?

And, Where did you get a new pontiac arrowhead emblem badge for the front bumper?

reason I ask is because I ran into a big rock a while back and my rear bumper is now scratched and cracked but I'm taking this as a opportunity to replace it because it has many small cracks in it anyway. Plus my front bumper is scraped from the previous owner and its oxidizing.

Gtomike72 03-27-2013 03:26 PM

I have an unused arrowhead still and the molding I found on eBay. You can cut a rear bumper molding down to fit the sides

PhantomLover007 03-27-2013 03:52 PM

The GA looks pretty good. The green is definitely different

Gtomike72 03-27-2013 08:01 PM

Pardon the dirty car but I got a set of Pontiac Grand Prix GPX wheels (18x8 F, 18x7 R) They bolted on but Im not sure if its because of the height of these wheels (seems a few inches taller than stock) or needs spacers but the top of the tire rubs the spring plate bottom. I hope it just needs lower profile tires because if I would need aprox 1.5-2 inch spacers and I think it would stick out and look horrible.

Not sure what size in an 18 would work to give it stock height, but I really like these wheels so I hope I can make them work

What does everyone think? Yay or nay? If I get low profile tires and they fit without spacers, I may lower the car an inch to avoid the 4x4 look

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...51209839_n.jpg

TDavis 03-27-2013 08:02 PM

Honestly, definitely nay. They look retarded as fk for some reason. lol

99ga 03-27-2013 08:59 PM

They look better than your GXP wheels Tdavis :D

bricooper78 03-27-2013 09:21 PM

I pretty much like those, but there is some 4x4 look there, it may just be the rubber on them. The spokes are almost to wide, make the wheels look too big, but I'm not sure that isn't just the way the car is sitting there with that rubber.

I'm not sure...

TDavis 03-27-2013 11:07 PM

Its probably the tire size but it looks lifted, which makes the 4x4 status even more noticeable. I wouldn't doubt that you're running the tire size fit for a GP which is alot more then you need.

BJPbrandon2448 03-27-2013 11:11 PM

Its that ****ty cheap chromatech that gm uses that makes the wheels look like ass... that coating is too bright of a chrome that just pops out and smacks you in the face when you see it! Its the main reason why I'm not the biggest fan of gm's stock wheels! Aftermarket chrome is much deeper and prettier... they shouldn't look to bad once you get everything sized out.

I think the GP GXP wheels where real chrome...hopefully they aren't the chromo-techs like the GA's was.

Regardless though, I agree with coop, the spokes are too "fat" so it makes the wheel look "dubbish," even if you where to get the correct tire size IMO it would still look too donky if ya know what I mean. Not to mention the stupid staggered wheel setup, if anything they should be wider in the rear since the wheel wells in the rear are deeper. I know they where wider in the front because of the FWD but that just looks funny.

Gtomike72 03-28-2013 09:48 AM

I agree, I hate the 4x4 look of it but the GP tires are an inch or two taller than stock size. The stock ones are back on now till I can find some reasonable priced 18 inch tires (anyone have a set???) love to drop it an inch or so also when the 18s go on. Think the car will look a lot better then

Gtomike72 03-31-2013 03:06 PM

Finally spring like weather and played around with the GA. I had some spare headlights and taillights and a bunch of black/clear paint so...

Tinted headlights and tails...

Thanks a lot!!! Still a few things I want to do: paint the spoiler bodycolor and then black out the bottom of the bumper, polish the exhaust tips, align the front bumper, and repaint the pillars. Looking for some low profile 18 inch tires so I can get the GP rims on the car

bricooper78 03-31-2013 04:09 PM

Doooooooooooooooood!! Leave that just like it is and slap some rims on it! Noyice!
