That was before I was lowered hahaha.

TDavis 02-15-2014 10:24 AM

I think your tire looks beefier with the BBS's for some reason.

Personally think its fine as is, wouldn't change a thing for a while.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 11:23 AM

Thanks tanner. I think the 8 inch wheel helps that... but they are slightly stretched. Not like honda stretched. But its noticeable. I wasnt aiming to stretch them but I also wasnt going to buy new tires when these have tons of life left. Plus I love these nitto tires.

TDavis 02-15-2014 11:42 AM

If you where to put a percentage on stretched it would be 1%. I have the same tire and width. Only noticeable if you stare at the damn things without moving your eye. They're EVER so slightly. I would say its barely noticeable to the normal person.

I felt the same about my tires, if I still had my wheels but no tires I would of gotten 255/35 Michelin pilot super sports for lulz so the spacer wide stance would look better. It doesn't look funny atm but would look better with 255s. Not to mention I got tires with barely any miles on them so..

Regardless though a 225 is still a decent enough square stance with enough lip to protect the lip of the wheel. But then again the type and brand of tire you get will be wider then the other.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 11:55 AM

Yeah I see your point. And no need to protect the lip. Its called dont curb the wheels! Lol

Ive always been very cautious when it comes to curbs and hitting my wheels on it. My last 18s had em for 2 years and didnt have a scratch on em around the lip. Never hit a curb in them.

Im gonna see what sizes I can get the nitto neo gens in now.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 12:06 PM

Doing some searching ive found...

255/40/18

- Nitto motivo
- Nitto Invo

255/35/18

- Nitto motivo
- Nitto Invo
- Nitto NT555
- Nitto NT05

245/40/18

- Nitto NeoGen ZR
- Nitto NT555
- Nitto motivo
- Nitto NT05
- Nitto Invo
- Nitto NT-01

[ChaosweaveR] 02-15-2014 12:19 PM

255/35 Invos or NT555s.

Best street tires they make, IMO.

Or be stupid awesome and get Toyo Proxes R888s.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 12:44 PM

Lulz the tags.

And yeah. Im a big nitto fan. Always liked em. Those are some good suggestions.

Now say you see a tire and one has a treadwear of say... 260. The other is 550.... I assume the 550 would last longer?

[ChaosweaveR] 02-15-2014 12:56 PM

Basic rule of thumb with threadwear ratings is the higher it is, the "longer" it can last.

Most summer performance tires are usually a soft compound and have anywhere from 100-350. Usually higher treadwear tires have a harder compound. The harder the compound, the longer it can last, but grip is sacrificed.

plastic_indian 02-15-2014 12:59 PM

It is not always a hard and fast rule to compare the tread wear number betwixt two different manufacturers; the designations as assigned by the manufacturers are relative the other offerings in their own product lines. Stated another way, a Yoko with a rating of 400 will probably wear at a different rate than a Mich with a rating of 400, all other variables held constant.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 01:37 PM

Right. Im talking Nitto only. The nt555 is 300 tread rating. The invos are 260 rated.

TDavis 02-15-2014 01:51 PM

You won't be able to go 255/40, period.

BTW its nice to have the lip protection, it looks nice and protects the lip IF something where to happen, I can see you wouldn't need it since you don't drive your sht for sht.

Not to mention your tires have the lip protection.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 02:04 PM

True haha. And yeah I was just looking for various tires in various sizes. Thank you for letting me know that 40 wont fit.

[ChaosweaveR] 02-15-2014 02:27 PM

If you like Nitto, look into Toyos. Toyo owns Nittos.

Plus their higher end of Proxes tires are awesome. Look up the RA1, R1R and T1 Sport. The R888 is a street legal competition tire. The best you can get IMO.

sleepyalero 02-15-2014 02:44 PM

Looked em up. They are so expensive. lol

young gun 02-15-2014 03:08 PM

R1r's are the ****. I love mine. Can't break traction unless it is wet out.

That's not completely true. There is some variation between manufacturers, but the tread wear rating is based off a standardized test, so you can still use it as a comparison on tires from different manufacturers. It's not perfect, but it should be close enough. Here's an explanation from tire racks website.

Quote:

Treadwear Grades

UTQG Treadwear Grades are based on actual road use in which the test tire is run in a vehicle convoy along with standardized Course Monitoring Tires. The vehicle repeatedly runs a prescribed 400-mile test loop in West Texas for a total of 7,200 miles. The vehicle can have its alignment set, air pressure checked and tires rotated every 800 miles. The test tire's and the Monitoring Tire's wear are measured during and at the conclusion of the test. The tire manufacturers then assign a Treadwear Grade based on the observed wear rates. The Course Monitoring Tire is assigned a grade and the test tire receives a grade indicating its relative treadwear. A grade of 100 would indicate that the tire tread would last as long as the test tire, 200 would indicate the tread would last twice as long, 300 would indicate three times as long, etc.

The problem with UTQG Treadwear Grades is that they are open to some interpretation on the part of the tire manufacturer because they are assigned after the tire has only experienced a little treadwear as it runs the 7,200 miles. This means that the tire manufacturers need to extrapolate their raw wear data when they are assigning Treadwear Grades, and that their grades can to some extent reflect how conservative or optimistic their marketing department is. Typically, comparing the Treadwear Grades of tire lines within a single brand is somewhat helpful, while attempting to compare the grades between different brands is not as helpful.

Well...there's a reason why neons go hand in hand with ricers...

I love lights! And WTF? That car isn't r1ce but it is kind of ugly. Needs a painted hood, better front bumper cover and what's with the blue and silver on the yellow PLUS green under glow?! It's like this person just tweaked out and used all of the leftover paint and parts lying around the body shop.
