This what I did ( I got a set of Firestones), although they are about 3/4" narrower , they are the exact same height , which wont mess up your speedometer , and I really did not feel any difference in the performance
Wrong. The load ratings for 205/55 R16 tires are not suited for the Grand Am's suspension. You need at least a load rating of 93. The average 205/55 R16 tire is either 91 or 89. This will result in sidewall blowouts under heavy loads.
