Question 99 3400 swap

I have a 99 GA with the 3400. The engine went out due to the oil pump failing while driving down the highway. So I need to find an engine that will fit. I found an engine out of a 05 GA. Will this work? I am looking for a straight swap, no major mods or anything like that. Something simple to get it running again is what im looking for. Thanks in advance for any help. I do have mechanical knowledge and have been doing some research, but always some input is helpful.

Should be fine but you may have to swap a few parts from your old engine. I have an 05 and if I'm not mistaken the egr hookup is different but as I said I'm not 100% on that.

EGR and fuel injector plugs are different between the 99 and 05. in 00 they changed them both. if your looking for the simple replacement find a 99. if your willing to put a little effort in tho swapping to an 05 shoulndt be terribly hard. youll need an 00+ EGR tho and the necessary hookups for it, as well as injector connectors for the 00+ style injectors.

Your best bet is to do a mild top end swap which will include swapping over the upper intake manifold(with egr and egr tube) and fuel injectors (with harness). I have done this probably about seven times now and this works best because your fuel system and computer aren't setup for utilizing the 05 injectors. Good luck.
