How do you install hood scoops on a 03 grand am gt without a ram air hood

Hi i was thinking abt just buying hood scoops instead of spending hundreds on a ram air hood. My car is a ram air but didnt come with the hood so is it possiable to do? i mean $71 + $20 shipping= Sick hood over $800 for vertially the same look? and if so does anyone know how to install them or has anyone done this and have pics? thanks!

You're talking about the stick on scoops? You do realize that that's actually rather tacky. Realistically, you'd be better off watching the board. Someone is always selling a hood of some kind or another and it'd be easy enough to buy one used and have it resprayed.

Edit-

Also in the wrong section. Should be posted under "All Show"

Yea they're stick ons. If you REALLY REALLY wanted to go that route have them installed professionally. Cuz you'd have to make sure they were aligned perfectly and that'd be a huge pain, not to mention all the prep work.

Fair warning: You won't be happy.

$90 bucks for a pair of stick on hood scoops????? Are you crazy???

No, don't do it. If you want scoops - save up a buy a hood.

No, there isnt. Buy a set of wheels instead of a hood. Everyone has the ram air hood. Not everybody has wheels on their car, be different.

Don't do it! Stick on scoops do NOT look the same as a ram air hood. They are fake and everyone can tell, and they will make fun of you. I laugh every time I see someone with them because they look stupid. If you can't afford to do something right, don't do it at all. Save your money for a real mod that will do something.

do as you wish, but you wont gain any respect from ANYONE on these boards if you put those on... much less anyone's respect in the real world

its kinda like buying a BIG muffler tip and putting it on the stock muffler to give the impression you have some form of performance exhaust system.

Yeah, don't waste your money or time getting those fugly things. You would be better off cutting a 2' hole in your hood and calling it "ram air".

i had stick-on scoops on my car for about 9 or 10 months. i put them on myself. it was easy. just measured in from the sides, distance between the scoops, and distance from the front of the hood i used tape to mark out the distances. but to tell the truth, i regret ever getting them. i only spent $90 for the scoops, but then i spent $130 to have them painted. they look nice from a distance, but when you get up close, they look tacky(unless you have them molded to the hood, which can cost a bit). like others have said, you are better off getting a different hood, new or used. depending on the color of the car, you may be best off getting a carbon fiber hood because after the price of a new hood+painting, the carbon fiber hood would be cheaper. but everybody has a different opinion when it comes to carbon fiber.
