waaa waaa waaaa.

Too bad, it ran a 7:29 on street shoes you just can't admit it when I threw out all this proof on you.

I can't help it that I'm a fan of both the GTR and ZR1, I just have an appreciation for sick cars instead of just humping the General all the damn time like a heroin addict sucking his needle.

Spy, you've been talking about the "Chevy humpers" and being biased or whatnot, when thats precisely what you're doing with the GTR. Ok, you go enjoy the GTR, we'll enjoy the Vette. But don't accuse people of humping on anything until you stop doing it yourself.

Looks are a matter of opinion. Personally I think the GTR looks like absolute shyt..... ok, you think it looks good, fine... whatever. Looks are subjective, performance is not. Until "the ring" releases an official number put out by the final production model, all times are completely moot.

Besides, that article that Rich brought up with the ZO6 vs. GTR vs. Viper, the Viper and Vette actually had faster 0-60 & 1/4 mile times, and better braking IIRC. The GTR did win in their lap, but if the regular ZO6 was quicker in those 2 categories, imagine how much faster the ZR1 is gonna be.

it's true, GTR came up short in the test. My biggest gripe for the car is how they made the gears super short to make it possible to put out the numbers it does pump out. There's always the Vspec/Nismo/whatever model.

Yeah, I do hump it a bit more then everybody on this board. However, I do feel people are unfairly harsh on the car. And the 7.29 is on every 'Ring website, so I would believe it is quite official, also considering it was done w/ a normal production vehicle. Remember it is available in Japan already.

$100,000 is too much for the corvette. For that kind of money I'll take a Nissan GTR

The GTR somehow won this test, however it got butt whooped by the Viper on all performance tests. The GTR was pathetically slow in the quarter mile.

Car and Driver August Issue test

Track times from Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Configuration No. 13
2.7 miles.

Z06 2:01.7 @79.9 MPH
Viper ACR 1:55.7 @84.0 MPH
GTR 2:01.1 @80.3 MPH
GT2 1:59.7 @81.2 MPH

Z06 : 0-60 3.8, 1/4 11.9 @124
Viper : 0-60 3.4, 1/4 11.8 @126
GT2 : 0-60 3.7, 1/4 11.8 @121
GTR 01-60 4.1 1/4 12.6@111MPH

GTR wins the test

GTR 203
GT2 194pts.
Viper ACR 185
Z06 177 pts.

I haven't read the issue yet, but it probably won because of C&Ds stupid "Gotta Have It" and "Fun to Drive" categories. I bet if you take those out, the ACR would win.

I bugs me that C&D factors those in to the tests because they are completely subjective. The results of the tests should be based purely on the performance and dimensional figures.

That's the exact reason I canceled my Communist and Driver subscription... their "subjective" points would cause the BMW or Merc to win by marginal points over the American car every time. It gets pretty old after a while... doesn't surprise me though, as they are based out of Ann Arbor-- buncha liberal Anti-American yuppies is what they are.

My sub is paid until 2010, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to re-new because you're right, they seem to be Euro/Asian humpers over there and it gets old.

Funny thing is, they've even addressed it in a few recent comparos...

They always address the issue because a lot of pissed off subscribers complain... their audience is AMERICAN, but they seem to cater to the Euro-humpers... probably because they give out their cooler cars more frequently than the Big 3 do. Even though they address the problem in the magazine, they ignore it in practice.

I agree... I get R&T because KDawg posted a link for a year free, but other than that I get my auto news from online-- usually here, from Rich, Or if it's GM related I just ask my dad.
