It's official, the 2009 Nissan GT-R will start at $69,850 with deliveries beginning July 7. The GT-R Premium will cost $71,900 while destination will add $1,000 to those prices. 70% are already spoken for.

In addition to the base price, options include Super Silver Paint ($3,000), an iPod connector ($360) and floor mats ($280). [via AutoFiends]

70 Percent of First-Year Allocation Already Sold

NASHVILLE (June 27, 2008) - Nissan today announced that deliveries of the all-new 2009 Nissan GT-R are scheduled to begin on Monday, July 7, 2008. More than 1,700 of the exotic 480-horsepower GT-R supercars, or approximately 70 percent of the first year allocation for the United States market, have already been spoken for since the announcement of a pre-sale ordering program last January.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)* of $69,850 for the GT-R and $71,900 for the GT-R Premium model. Destination & Handling (D&H) is $1,000. The GT-R is available only through officially certified Nissan dealers that have met a number of strict sales, service and facilities commitments, including dedicating a master technician to GT-R service. A 2009 Nissan GT-R, equipped with a standard 480-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine and advanced 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, recently set a lap time of 7 minutes 29 seconds at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the fastest times achieved by a production-spec vehicle to date.

About the 2009 Nissan GT-R
The all-new 2009 Nissan GT-R, the fifth-generation of the legendary Nissan supercar, is a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of "the ultimate supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere."

It features an all-new 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 producing 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, backed by an all-new, paddle-shifted, GR6-type dual clutch rear transmission. We are getting hosed up here in Canada. Nissan will be selling this car here for $82,000, which is very close to the Z06 ($91,000).

Wow talk about alienating your main customer base. 70k? Pass! Maybe if it was 20k less I'd consider it, but that's just too much. If I was gonna drop 70k on a car it wouldn't be on the GTR...

Yea, 70k for a super car worthy of competing with cars 3 or even 4X its value....who would want that.

I'm sorry, but I don't care how "super" the car is. In my opinion its still an overrated piece of garbage. You're paying for the name and image and getting some performance outta the deal.

And before you start, I've heard of its "legendary" performance and all that other stuff so save it for someone who cares. I personally refuse to shell out money for reputation and hype.

Or on the other hand, I'd buy a 30k car and dump 15k into it. A nicely modded turbo'd 20b Rx-8 would pwn the GTR. And it'd STILL be cheaper.

i wonder if the aftermarket will pick up for these. OR iv never thought about this, but will there be any "want" to mod them? these are aimed at the wealthier individual that's after porsche-type of performance, not a kid in a civic.

^ The aftermarket for the GTR should be about what the aftermarket for an NSX is. Nothing will happen for 5-10 years, but when you can pick one up for 30 grand there will be customers.

Not a bad price for the performance you get out of it. I'd be willing to bet not a single one sells for under $70k though. Even the cheapest option (floormats?! who makes those an option instead of included with the car?!!!) would put it over 70 and you know no one is going to order these without a few options. Plus with 70% of them spoken for and only 30% available you know the dealerships are going to do the same thing the chevy dealers started doing with the ZR-1... it's an ultra desirable car right now so they are going to mark it up like crazy!

You truly have no clue what sort of car this is. Most of the production run is already sold out. This is a car enthusiasts in america have been wanting ever since the R32 first burst onto the scene.

I say the price is perfect for the car, but you probably won't touch one for less than $20K more at first.
