no...first you want to make sure it runs right. then you can start looking at performance. the 2.3 ho cams are a place to start...just follow the steps. first make it reliable
----edit scratch the cams if you go with a 2.2...srry

its kinda reliable.
. it got me to baltimore and back . i was surprised. but any ways. what about secret cams are they better or the same, and i was goin to do a light weight crank pulley, i can do that very simply, once i get my new engine everything is out in the open. ? what is the best oil filter and oil to put in it. it has like 100K miles but the engine i found has like 80K, im figuring an ACDelco filter but whats the best oil. |

As far as oil goes there are vaying opinions on what to use but for a street driven car Mobil 1 comes readily to mind. If you are going all out at the track every weekend an oil like AMSoil or Royal Purple would probably be a good (albeit expensive) choice.

im actually thinkin of droppin a 2.3L HO engine in, im on quad4forums and people say i can swap out with a few minor mods to the wiring and ECU, so i might just do that then start there. i know im gettin a supercharger for sure. just not yet, cuz im still workin on a better job so i can afford the mods i need without gettin shet.
. but i, not plannin to do anything major im gettin bike soon so i want that to be my summer daily. if i can, much better gas milage. but anyways im still keepin the car on the options list, for mods. but ya im finding more info for that car to do better for Hp, i figured that the 2.3L cams were the secret cams but i figured i ask. |

Changing an oil pump will not affect your power much. It can affect durability though if it changes the pressure and the motor isn't designed for it. Just ask the v6 people who tried to use the GMP high volume oil pump on motors with stock clearances... and ended up getting new motors.

It deletes the balance shafts that are integrated into the 2.4L oil pump design. The 2.3L pump ditches the balance shafts and replaces that with a more sanely styled oil pick up and windage tray.

Do you need certain tools, yes you need certain tools. A machine shop would be better equipped to do the work. A 2.3L oil pan will not fit, nor bolt on. The fuel pump in your 2.4L will be similar to that in a 2.3L. You have no reason to upgrade your fuel pump unless if you're pushing over 300hp. If you want a nice easy upgrade. Beef up the power wiring and ground wiring to the fuel pump.

My attitude is different to the rest of the people who believe in the quad 4 motors. i would prefer to work off of the 2.4L twin cam motor and pick n choose pieces from the 2.3L motors to make the motor that I want. Instead of going backwards with an older motor into a newer vehicle. Going with an older motor in any newer vehicle is illegal for the most part from an emissions standpoint, as you're reverting to an older style emissions setup as well, plus the older engine in a generally speaking fashion also has lower emissions require..................... **** the 2.3HO unless if you had a 2.3Ho equipped car. you can do as much w/ a 2.4L mixing and matching parts and in my opinion be more satisfied.
