Mike, why the hell didn't you just find a room in WI!?!?! Since you are driving right through it and its closer to antioch......now you are going 40mins out of your way, and with traffic on 94 and the construction, no bueno!

I choose there because it was only $44.10 US for the night on Thursday.
& it included free WiFi & continental breakfast.

I wasn`t going to pay $71 for the night elsewhere (I looked already elsewhere closer).
+ I kind of know the area from last year.
IE: I had Portillio`s Big Italian Beef with Cheese Fries for dinner tonight

I am by rand and palatine road, I might be catching up with joe on the ride up there.
I actually cracked a rim right in front of the super 8 earlier this summer. I map quested it and its about 10 mins from my house if you wanna cruise up there.

I seem to be a favourite with the US Customs & Border

I got pulled over again, for a secondary inspection/search.
They search/tossed my car's contents again.

13-hours.
848.4 km / 527.2 miles driven.
Gasoline used: 16.943 US Gallons
MPG: 31.2

& seem to be nicer about it this time.

They saw my GA packed up with a lot of crap; & wanted to search it all

8x 12-packs of beer
2x 12-packs of pop
6x Herr's Heinz Ketchup chips
1 case of 48 boxes/packs Smartie chocolate candies
6x Ramen noodle packs
2 coolers
2 gym bags full of clothes
backpack of my laptop
backpack of shoes
etc...

You can say I made them work for it

PS: What is up with them asking how much money/cash I am carrying ?
My credit card limits are more than I would ever carry in cash.

Cuz there are limits as to how much you can bring into and take out of the country without making a special declaration. I dunno about taking in, but going out you're only allowed $10,000 at a time. If you're even a dollar over and they catch you, you can be arrested for it (I think. All I know is its a big deal.)

Yeah, some type of money laundering laws & banking laws IIRC.

But that is weird...
I never had a problem receiving a wire transfer for more than $10K from overseas. (That was before 9/11 though.)

& I didn't have a problem transferring funds (one time) more than $10K from my American Express Investment Savings Account into my TD chequing account.

Transferring funds is different. They can track that sort of thing. The issue comes up when you move that much money as cold hard cash.

& that is why Canada got rid of the $1000 bill

(They only have $100 bills now.)

To make it harder to move cash, in any great amounts.
