Anyone who expects to land the perfect job right out of college is expecting too much. I honestly had my expectations set low. I knew in my field I could eventually make $60,000 - $80,000 a year being a Network Administrator, but I have only been hoping to get a PC-technician job making $30,000/year. $30,000/year at this moment in my life would be like hitting the lotto. At the very tops I make about $24,000/year from lowes. Usually not even that.

I did do some things prior to graduating too. I took a seasonal Job as a Fire Dog in-store Technician at Circuit City, and then I got on at HP for 6 months working a contracted position as a PC customization technician. I took a gamble with that one. I went down part time, 2 days a week at Lowes, lost my benifits, and ended up getting laid off over the phone from HP in October. It was really rough... I was working 12 hour days at HP, and 10 hour days at lowes, putting in 60 to 70 hours a week, but I thought it would all pay off with the experience under my belt. Boy was I ever wrong.

Companies almost don't even care about a 2 year or 4 year degree in CIS. They just want experience and thats it. Even with 8 months, its not enough. They all want at least 2 years. I could get certifications but even certs don't seem to help. College doesn't guarentee ****. All College is for me is an $80 bill I gotta pay every month.

^ I feel your pain man. College is so expensive these days and every d!k jerker out there has one... and it's no guarantee of intelligence. Half the people out there with them are f'ing morons, so employers are looking at a lot more than just what degree you have now. And a major problem is that some fields are way over saturated but the colleges don't tell you that 'cause they just want you to take their classes and keep giving them money. They won't advise you on what fields need more people. My brother got a degree from ITT in computer aided design for automotive... worked in the field for about three years before his company fired everyone and hired all new kids straight outta college at lower pay rates. He couldn't find another job in his field to save his life. Now his student loans are payed off finally, but he's running his own business and his college degree is about as useful as a coaster on his coffee table.

Yes we're pretty much open to Relocating.

Biggest problem is the typical One. Nobody is going to hire anyone right out of College with no experience. They all want at least 2-5yr experience. Have to start at the bottom and work your way up. I would say Most Don't make what there suppose to untill your working for 3-5yr's.

Anyone that thinks there going to make 60k right out of college is on Dope. Im sure there our a Few lucky ones.

The thinks they don't tell you in College. Real world/College to different things. Also doesn't help with economy in the ****tier.

$80 a month for the first 3 years than $150 for the rest of the loan. Its not bad I agree, but still would be nice to not have that $80 bill every month. Not to mention the $125/month I pay on my personal loan, and $200 in credit card bills every month. Also whats killing us is health insurance. She works for her dad, so she was on her dad's plan. He was completely paying for it, and it was like $400/month or something. he wanted her off so I put her on my plan at lowes. I went from paying $80/month for health insurance to $300 a month! Sucks, my paychecks are the same now as they were when I started 5 years ago and I make $2 more an hour!

She's got an interview for a job at Anthem answering phones. Pay is about the same she makes from her dad, and insurance will only cost us $120/month for both of us, which will help a lot. Really hope she gets it. As for me I'm heading to fed ex next week to clean up the debt we're in.

This is what I am doing.
I was told by lots, and lots of well educated people to do just this. If you have no interest on college loans until after you graduate, put it in savings/CD (depending on how long it is). If you have interest gaining on the loans atm, pay them off unless you have a savings account with a higher interest rate. Some online banks are pretty high. HSBC Direct was 5.35% when I opened my account there. It dropped a heck of a lot since then though.
