^ ![]() You learn more by building your own car. You appreciate it more, and other people pay more attention when you do something unique and make a slow car fast. If all I wanted was the fastest car I could afford, I would have sold my GA a long time ago because I could have bought a lot of other things for what I spent on it. However by doing what I've done, I know a lot more about cars in general than a lot of mustang/camaro/'vette owners out there who are complete dumbasses.

For the block -SBC rods -Custom Pistons(8.5:1 or 9.0:1) -Turbo Cam & Custom Pushrods -3500 intake manifolds (P&P) -3400 or 3500 heads(P&P) -ls springs(what LS engine is best) -crane rockers -Valve breathers/filters -65mm TB -headstuds -Copper headgaskets -cooler thermostat -stainless valves -colder plugs Anything else that I am missing. dont forget gaskets for the oil fittings, turbo flange and probibly oil pan. Also a large amount of exhaust wrap for the down pipe and some vband clamp kits to break the down pipe up into a couple sections. You will also need vaccume hoses/splitters/clamps, then some braided coolant hoses to reroute the heater core lines because there is no way of getting the down pipe run with them how they come stock. Also I would reccomend replacing the upper radiator hose with a braided one to help prevent heat damage. Your going to need to relocate the battery so a dry cell (optima), battery box and relocation wires will be needed. Lastly your going to need a egr blockoff plate made and the T that goes into the block for oil feed and a bung for the oil pan(oil return) Theres probibly more that im missing but cant think of off the top of my head. Check out my f/s thread, I have a pretty complete list of what all is needed on there.

If you are going to use an aftermarket cam I would buy the comp springs from Ben with the cam rather than ls6 springs. With larger lift values you would need to modify the heads to use ls6 springs where as the comps are a straight up install and forget.

What ?
No one mentioned an oil cooler ? You will want to get the engine oil temps down. PS: What are peoples' oil temps, that are running turbo'd ? Last edited by Mike Jung; 09-03-2008 at 09:47 PM. |

Boost gauge
Boost controller Powrtuner or HPtuner Wideband edit: oh and if you plan to flow above 50lb/min of air... you'll need a bigger MAF... or you'll have to scale the stocker with an AFC. an ls1 MAF will be good to about 63lb/min of air. 2nd edit: I did some quick number crunching and I figured that your injectors will probably limit you a little bit before the stock MAF... so you'll also probably want to look at 65#ers if you plan to flow more than 50lb/min of air. Also the copper head gaskets are a race part. They aren't really reliable for a street driven car, nor are they necessary. Get some MLS gaskets instead. They'll seal up better and be plenty strong enough, especially with head studs. Same with the valves... do you really need stainless? 3500 heads and valves are pretty good to start with. The need for stainless depends on your power goal, rpm, and valve springs you're gonna run. Last thing, do NOT use valve cover breathers on a street driven car! Quote:

My power goals are hopefully around what whiteb!tch was running, before he blewed his crap up and went zo6 humping. What the recommended plan of attack?

Before you get the crane rockers their are some Scorpion rockers being made with different ratio's. http://60degreev6.com/forum/f96/comi...rockers-t41314
So those might be something you might want to look into before you get the crane rockers.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. Don't get the crane rockers. They are really too expensive for very little power gain. Also two people have had failures with them (the fulcrum bearings went out on mine). Personally I think their design is flawed and the oil hole in the top is too small. Anyway rockers aren't really necessary, but again if you're going for an all out build and want something lighter and stronger than stock, then the new scorpion rockers coming out should fit the bill and require less modifications to work. Any of the current adjustable rockers that will work require tedious modifications to fit.

Any idea's as what Whiteboy had installed to achieve in his 322whp set up? I know he had the hp kit, but what else was done to his engine. I saw where he had only a few simple mods, and another where he had a huge list including meth injection.
Any one know his mods list??
